I get that. But how about they actually critically analyse what has occurred, rather than just assuming that it will "all work out".

They have lost their two best players, plus Hill (who seems to have been forgotten about by the footy media). They are bringing in a bloke who has struggled to play for two years and Mitchell. It may work out, or it may not, but the lack of analysis does my head in.
That's the football media in a nutshell. When a club is perceived as successful then the media will fall all over themselves to talk up how well they do everything and every move is seen as a master stroke when in reality it's anything but.

The media infatuation with the Lions was the same back in the early 2000's. I remember when Mal Michael and Chris Scott ran and bumped and trashed talk Nick Riewoldt after he broke his collar bone and certain sections of the AFL media defended saying it typified the Lions toughness and uncompromising attitude when in reality it was gutless and piss weak and I doubt you'd see a media figure today condone it.

Flavour of the month stuff really.

The pick may have been good
But to take on a player with weak Knees is a request from me
No please
Risky in my books
But each to there own
How much of a risk is it really? A lot of players have come back from recos including the double reco.

Not many careers have been ruined from a knee in the modern game. Even Menzel came good eventually.

So even then, doesn't the above highlight even more what a terrible job we're doing?

If both Geelong and Hawthorn have turned over more of their lists (or the same) and yet still stayed successful/relevant, then surely that highlights our Club's incompetence even further.
Turnover at these clubs may have been higher however they had a superior core of elite players who remained throughout IMO
