Article from AFL.com.au on the potential Dunn deal:
http://m.afl.com.au/news/2016-10-18/dunn-deal-melbourne-defender-in-magpies-sights

MELBOURNE defender Lynden Dunn looks likely to join Collingwood, with a trade deal close to being finalised.

The Magpies are focused on replenishing their backline stocks after key defender Nathan Brown joined St Kilda as a free agent on Sunday and with fellow tall Jack Frost likely to join the Brisbane Lions on a three-year deal before the trade deadline closes on Thursday.

AFL.com.au can confirm Collingwood has had discussions with Melbourne about Dunn, 29, and understands the clubs are close to agreeing to a trade that would send a late draft pick to the Demons.

thoughts on Lynden Dunn?

Apparently we are trading for him...whats he worth? a 3rd/4th rounder?
I'm thinking a Sam Mitchell type trade (pick in the 80's). Probably not going to use that pick, but it merely facilitates the trade without the Demons having to delist him and sending him out on the open market.

I'm not a huge wrap for this trade, although I have warmed to it a bit.

Compared to the other options, Dunn is at least a good kick and can play on a variety of opponents. I'd prefer him over Silvagni or Mitch Brown.

It doesn't solve our issues though, and I still think we need to recruit some young key defenders quickly.

Actually pretty happy with picking up Dunn for peanuts.

I feel like I'm going to be the only one though...
No I'm also keen on Dunn, averaged 4.32 rebound 50s in 2015, putting him 9th in the league.

For reference, Reid averaged 4.41 this year, putting him 8th in the league.

Neither Frost or Brown made the top 100.....

If we plan on playing counter attacking football, he would be a good replacement for those 2.

Taylor Adams is a better player than Bernie Vince, he is just carrying that reputation of butchering the footy from his earlier years and it is tainting how he is perceived. But that Dees midfield is excellent, they've done a great job of rebuilding.
Bernie Vince seems a bit underrated on here he was a quality player for Adelaide then went to Melbourne and has been practically their best mid.

I think Adams is a quality player for us and is around Vinces mark when fully fit.
