It's all getting a bit depressing when you hear the sort of names that we're being linked to.We're starting to have a look of Richmond about us now,and that truly is frightening.
Panic recruiting at its worst. Lose regular key backs, replace with fringe part time defender from fellow bottom 8 side. Illogical and counter productive when this year is our supposed great leap forward under the reset that Buckley has overseen.
I'm getting the feeling that things are running off the rails with our football dept if this trade period is anything to go by. Talk about bizarre thinking and what's even more bizarre is the attempts by some here to rationalize these decisions. Lynden Dunn an upgrade on Nathan Brown? Really? What utter garbage.
We have lost three defenders and have brought one in. Whose spot is he clogging? I would see it as list clogging if we had plenty of options actually on our list, but we don't.
Wasn't expecting us to go after Dunn, genuine surprise.
Had very good VFL form last year by all reports but the Dees looked to accelerate the development of young players.
Personally thought he was OK prior to that.
Not a world beater but a good kick and competent defender, but a year in the VFL won't have helped.
Is the idea that he will come cheaper than Frost and Brown in terms of the contract?
Don't agree. He's better than both of them. I'd keep him at Melbourne but if you guys offer him a 2 year deal he'd be silly not to grab it.
There's no doubt he was entitled to play more senior footy than he did in 2016 but a lot of our selections were with an eye to the future. So Oscar McDonald got games where Dunn probably deserved them
He has a year to go on his contract - I imagine you'll get him for minimum chips
If Keeffe comes good after his suspension then he gets the KPD spot. If not, Dunny will be a good fit.
At worst he can kick skyscrapers to Howe & they can put on a speccy show for you

That isn't list clogging. Its about someone being on the list that isn't taking you forward. If we want to look at it your way if the club identified we needed a further two KPD he's now taken the spot of one of them and is a two year option max meaning we might miss the next Jake Lever next year because we've alrwady got Dunn on the list...
the way the game seems to be going I think we may end up playing only Reid with Keeffe and Dunn as back ups and surrounding that key back with medium talls like maynard shaz langdon howe henderson
Lets not already start the rewriting of history in regards to Nathan and Jack. They were serviceable in the last 24 months (at best). They were good honest battlers but held us back in how we wanted to move the ball (coaching speak - transitioning the ball from defence). Dunn is not outstanding but he has an outstanding attribute and that is his right leg and the velocity he can put on the pill. He can clear the D50 with almost the same speed as Reid by foot and this obviously is crucial to getting the ball into dangerous forward territory quickly. Not as bad stop gap solution (so long as we have a clear plan for the future).
Right. I understand that you are saying any player you don't rate is list clogging. I get that. But, from my perspective a player that can fill a role is better than no player at all.
When you have limited options, you take the best available.
