I was keen on the Hibberd idea until my brother (an Essendon supporter. Don't ask!) said his real knock is his ball use. That is something we don't need is an underwhelming ball user out of the back half. It surprised me because I never noticed it in the past, but I watch far less Essendon than he does.

I could see Jenkins coming to us. We have good track record of giving players big deals of the back one good season. Even more so in their contract year.

On a more Jenkins orientated side. Good on him. He's 27/8 been an average player at best his entire career. Good player management decision to put off contract talks this is his deal of a life time to set him up for the future.

He has been pretty decent for a few years now.

2014: 40 goals from 20 games (average of 2 goals per game)
2015: 46 goals from 19 games (average of 2.4 goals per game)
2016: 23 goals from 7 games so far (average of 3.2 goals per game)

I reckon a 2-3 goal per game player would be handy. Would take the pressure of Moore and even possibly Cloke? He can also pinch hit in the ruck as well, imo if we got him we would definitely look at trading Witts.

He's simply too old to fit in with our next premiership assault.

I wouldn't consider anyone over 25 unless we're getting an insanely good deal or they're dirt cheap and bring leadership

that's the thing though, i believe we have a very good crop of young talent under 24 years old, i think its the top end talent that we don't have enough of, he is pushing on the age limit of what i would be happy with though, i'm not saying go out and recruit a few 29/30 year olds, id say 26-27 year olds would be good.

We should be targeting 21-24 year olds. But I think an exception could be made occasionally for a 25-26 year old certainly no older then 26.

Most players careers are done at 30, it's very rare that players keep producing good football after 30... By the time Jenkins is winding up his career we will just be starting to push for top 4.. it's just a poor list fit.

Shame he isn't a couple years younger

Yeah I have no problem with Jenkins himself, he's having a great year! Just not sure he's the right fit with us, at the moment anyway.
Thinking either Essendon or Freo if he doesn't stay put. Not sure why he wouldn't, Crows are well ahead of us, Freo and Bombers.
