I understand this is the trade forum, however sometimes all of us including me go crazy about us landing players during trade period.
If players such as Witts Broomhead or Williams want to go? We shouldnt beg anyone to stay!If they want to stay let them stay.
But if us trading means getting players such as Greenwood again, i would rather cut my losses and go to the draft with a full compliment of picks, and with possible upgrades if we trade anyone.
Dont forget we will most likely be upgrading Cox and Smith next season.

Assuming you're responding to my post, I was absolutely not having a dig at JDG. I think he will be a ripper, and have been saying so all year. I still disagree with the decision to recruit him ahead of Wright though. Opportunities to draft genuinely high quality key forwards are few and far between, and we had the opportunity to grab two in the same draft, who not only were quality, but both were talked up at stages as legitimate number 1 selections (if Moore were in the open draft).

We could have had built our forward line for the next decade around those two, and as much as I love JDG, his type was not what should have been at the top of our list of needs.
Wright isn't playing as a Key forward though and at draft time was looked at as a ruckman. Played the U'18 champs as a ruckman and, I believe, all the TAC Cup as a ruckman. His best games for Gold Coast has been as the back up ruckman, not permanent tall forward. Wright is as mobile as a ruckman. Compare his mobility to that of Hogan, Daniher, Lynch, Moore and even Tom Boyd. If Nicholls leaves Gold Coast, Wright will be their No.1 ruck next year.

A couple of weeks ago he had 1 kick, playing predominately as a KF. He looks like a good ruckman in the making. Very much plays like Kreuzer without the excellent 2nd efforts. People thought that carlton could turn Kreuzer into a gun CHF. Didn't work out for many different reasons, one being his mobility in that forward line. Jolly was a dangerous as a forward when resting there too, however, I'd have been loathe to play him as permanent KF.

Rory Lobb is a better and cheaper option for that back up ruck/3rd tall role.

Wright played his u18 year predominantly as a key forward with stints through the ruck as a backup. His preferred position is forward. He is currently playing as a forward and backup ruck. He is a forward first and foremost. His ability to pinch hit in the ruck is completely irrelevant. You're way off the mark.

Hence why I asked the question...
Yeah sorry. Jumped too soon because we have so many people suggesting we recruit other teams garbage.
We need to improve our list & need to be looking at players that will do that.
If we lose the likes of Cloke, Williams & Witts & bring in guys like Suban, then I may lose my shit. ;)

I'm not sure the bromance between Bucks and Sanderson is what we need next season. Would prefer someone from a winning culture and who wasn't the subject of a player revolt.
I think you'll find the player revolt might have been the official reason as opposed to the actual reason.

If I had more any confidence in our fitness department, would consider Deledo for a year.
So would I. But the only way Richmond would let him go is if they got a great deal. It would be too high of a price to get one year out of him. (Or 2).

If Travis was deat-set keen to leave, maybe a swap?? Different type of player, but similar age bracket. Those calves are a worry though.

Better? Yes. Cheaper? Not so sure.

Yep... been repeated ad nauseam since before Wright was drafted. He is just a super tall KPF who coaches like to throw into the ruck because of his height, always has been a forward #1 though, similar to Tippett in a way.

I don't think he'll end up as good as Moore but he looks to be a very good key forward for the next 10 years, hard to find those types... We got extremely lucky with Moore and it might be another 5 years before we get another chance to get a potential A grade power forward

My bad as i have mixed up the draft years for those two. Anyway McCarthy wouldn't be with us anymore so i can't see it as a bad decision not to draft him.
I don't know about that. I feel we're a club that youngsters really settle into and at the time, we had so much more to give than the Giants did. A best 22 spot as a key forward (as opposed as a supporting role to Patton and Cameron), games in front of 50,000+ (as opposed to 15,000), a football-crazy culture that is Melbourne (rather than a city that's crazy about a sport that Western Australians don't know). He wouldn't have bailed on us and even if he did, I don't think we would have turned down two 1st rounders (especially after the Treloar deal).

It seriously irks me when he's labeled as a ruckman, especially by someone claiming to have knowledge of how he's currently being played, and was played in the TAC cup. He was never, ever played as a first ruckman in his under 18 years unless there was no other option. It was always key forward and back up ruck because of his height. My favorite part way the claim of 'he was played as a key forward the other week and played poorly', ignoring that he's played ripping games as a key forward too, including 5 goals against Brisbane.
