Assuming you're responding to my post, I was absolutely not having a dig at JDG. I think he will be a ripper, and have been saying so all year. I still disagree with the decision to recruit him ahead of Wright though. Opportunities to draft genuinely high quality key forwards are few and far between, and we had the opportunity to grab two in the same draft, who not only were quality, but both were talked up at stages as legitimate number 1 selections (if Moore were in the open draft).

We could have had built our forward line for the next decade around those two, and as much as I love JDG, his type was not what should have been at the top of our list of needs.
Where was all this "We should of picked Wright" talk on draft day? Or for that matter, this time last year?

Not a dig at you specifically but there are a lot of voices in the Wright camp that were in the Degoey, Laverde, Langford camps not too long ago.

I was 100% wanting to pick up Wright on draft day, and there were quite a few others too.

I'd take him. We would potentially be getting the two best forwards of the draft. That hasn't happened since the Hawks landed Buddy and Roughy.
^ My response to the question 'what would you do if Wright was available at 5?'

Worst part is it's increasingly looking like I was right :(

Kudos to you for sticking to your guns. It's interesting reading the draft thread you posted. You can almost draw a form line as to how public opinion changed on players as the thread progressed. The section you mentioned was very Wright centric, whereas later on it was Laverdeville despite nothing actually happening with their playing form, list needs etc. Funny how we can influence each other's opinions on players more than facts and figures.

Yeah, his 9 possession scoreless game against Melbourne was the final nail in that coffin...
Second year KPF doesn't set the world on fire in every single game he plays. Stop the presses!
Clearly Moore won't be one of, if not the best key forwards in his draft class too, due to his 6 possession, scoreless game against St Kilda...

I'll back Sando in for a development role at the club even if Bucks goes at some point. I know a young kid who will be taken next year by GWS and he's in the academy squad and he loves Sando, says he's been great for him while he's been there.

I've said this a couple of times, but if Bucks goes at the end of next year it will be because has decided he can't take this group any further.
I'm pretty sure he would then be ok with handing the job over to his mate
Agree on that.
But just to annoy some posters, next year Nathan will get nice results, we'll go up a spot or two and he'll get another extension.

If nothing else it will irritate a whole bunch of posters.

I understand this is the trade forum, however sometimes all of us including me go crazy about us landing players during trade period.
If players such as Witts Broomhead or Williams want to go? We shouldnt beg anyone to stay!If they want to stay let them stay.
But if us trading means getting players such as Greenwood again, i would rather cut my losses and go to the draft with a full compliment of picks, and with possible upgrades if we trade anyone.
Dont forget we will most likely be upgrading Cox and Smith next season.
I like your points.
Only difference is I quite like Greenwood, real grunt.
And knows how to kick a goal too.

We don't need Wright. We need more more mids.
I think if we knew we were getting Treloar we would have made a different decision. At the time I wanted to pick DeGoey as we just lost Beams and in my eyes we needed another quality mid but I did at that time want us to use last years or this years first rounder on a quality tall forward. That now can't happen and if I knew that then I would have taken Wright

Funny how De Goey is held to a different standard by most!

Either way, Wright is a ruck, not a KP forward. Will need to make his mark there.

Firstly, if you followed the conversation, you'd know I have already said I think JDG will be a beauty. No double standards here.
Secondly, Jesus Christ, no he's not. He's a key forward who can pinch in the ruck.

I think we will lose Marley, witts and maybe cloke.. Won't get much for any of them though
I think a lot of people will be plesantly suprised about Witts? And what other teams are willing to give for him. I still believe a first rounder is possible depending on supply and demand. Have heard Lions and Dogs are keen and who knows if anyone else will throw there hat on the ring
Cloke not sure? Could go from one extreme to another, Williams 20 to 30 i guess? Comment guys?

It seriously irks me when he's labeled as a ruckman, especially by someone claiming to have knowledge of how he's currently being played, and was played in the TAC cup. He was never, ever played as a first ruckman in his under 18 years unless there was no other option. It was always key forward and back up ruck because of his height. My favorite part way the claim of 'he was played as a key forward the other week and played poorly', ignoring that he's played ripping games as a key forward too, including 5 goals against Brisbane.
Preferred position regardless. Past/recent history regardless. I view him as a very good ruck prospect and an ok tall forward prospect. I'd be surprised if his best footy is played anywhere other than in the ruck.
