Except the ladder leaders. Hawthorn. 5 top goal scorers this year. Gunston, Breust, Rioli, Puopolo, Sicily. Not a giant amongst them. They seem to score alright....don't they?
Gunston is a key forward and they would LOVE to have their main man Roughead out there who would improve them quite a bit...

Gunston is a far better key forward than Cloke

Gunston is not a traditional key forward.
That's like saying daicos in 1990 was a key forward.
Well that depends on your definition of "traditional key forward" doesn't it?

Because there are literally zero forwards who play like "traditional key forwards" use to 20-30 years ago.

Gunston is a tall forward who normally stays in the forward line and kicks massive bags of goals.. sounds like a key forward to me

Could it be because their star KPF is out indefinitely with cancer? Also, Gunston is a key forward.

Neither is Buddy. Or Cameron. Gunston is key position height, takes marks on the lead inside 50 and kicks lots of goals. But yeah, he's not a key forward because he's skinnier than 'traditional forwards'. Sound logic.

We also have Reid, Howe, Keeffe, Marsh and Witts.

Your idea of a key forward differs to mine I think. I see a key forward as someone who kicks goals. For example, our best key forward at the moment is Fasolo. What we need to do is develop players who can hit field targets by foot and hand. We need to move away from this obsession with contested footy and actually concentrating on improving our skills.
You just listed 3 defenders, a medium swingman and a ruckman, and then defined a key forward as someone who kicks goals...

If you want to try and redefine what a key position forward is, more power to you, but nobody is going to buy the line that Fasolo is a KPF, just like Daicos was never a KPF.

Pretty sure he's a little different to some of the names mentioned.
If you can't see that, no point me arguing.

How much did those guys weigh?
How big were the fullbacks playing on them in that era?
Coventry was 6' maybe we put Blair in some platforms and line him against rance in the square.
This is a trade forum for 2017 onwards....?
If you want to get in a 6'4" skinny bloke to play KPF for the pies, let's hope that he's half as good as Gunston.

So you have to weigh a certain amount to be a key forward? Do you decide how much that weight is?

Okay, on the flip side, patty cripps is 193 and weighs 92kg. He's 3cm smaller than Cameron, but bigger. Is he a key forward?

You're the problem that modern day talent scouts have, your too busy looking at an athletic profile than looking how a guy plays. Gunston is shorter yes, but to think he isn't a key forward when he's been the second banana for the best team in the comp the last 3 years, and been the number one guy this year is naive.

I don't know any talent scouts? I'm the problem? Fair shake of the sauce bottle hey? Well I never thought I ever had that much industry pull, but I'll wear that badge with pride.
How is he the number 1 guy this year?

No they don't, the only difference is one is above average AFL player and the other is elite
Er actually Jenkins and Walker are the two key forwards for Adelaide, Lynch plays more of a mobile medium forward role and often pushes up to the wing
