No Pendlebury. Forwards don't grow on trees. Mids are easier to find. Pendles is not THAT good anymore.
I like to see how Pendlebury plays for the rest of year when he recovers from his injury. But I'm starting to agree. The problem with Boyd is he's largely unproven and on a big pay check on a long contract.

Also I'd want some sweetners in a deal involving Pendlebury and Boyd and I don't think the dogs would feel the need to give up any given the state of their list ATM.

Un Collingwood or un Buckley?

Geez I just realised ho bad my grammar was than:$
Dare I say it un-Hine! In over a decade the only outside runner he's drafted was Seedsman. The rest were small forwards and they've been thin on the ground too.

Post the drafts that built our premiership line up, most of our drafting hasn't been that great.

Yes. They where talking about it but nothing Final came of it. IF we keep losing you bet Eddie will make a song and dance about it
I would hope not. If we finish low, thats our tough luck and we will have to suck it up. It'll be a bit embarrassing if Ed makes a scene about it.

Back to your ordinary posting I see. Can't believe the bagging our captain is getting. This place is becoming unbearable.

TheWing121 my gut feel on the level Moore will reach is more your Cloke/ Hawkins output because he's a low possession high impact type, but if you can find a way to develop him into a consistent 15+ ppg type he could get to that next level given his dynamism and conversion. There are just so many factors to consider with it which is why you say no in the end, but to not even consider it isn't right to me.

FWIW another example Trent Croad at just 21 and a megastar in the making at Hawthorn goes out along with McPharlin. Incoming is Hodge and Mitchell the Hawks may have got lucky, but with an attitude of not even considering it they could be minus 4 flags, IMO.
Hopefully you haven't been lynched over night on the forum. I can see the merit in it. I just couldn't see it happening with a Collingwood father son unless they really wanted to leave or their was another sort of issue. Especially one of by all reports is a leader already around the place, cant see that being good for team morale.

I would like to see us chase Hooker or Hurley who I think could come relatively cheap or nothing at all through free agency

That would then give us 2 All Australian quality Defenders (assuming Reid stay fits and gets close to the output he once had) & potential future All Australian in Moore. And a handy back up in Cloke. In a couple of years it will be a pretty handy spine especially if one of Witts / Grundy come on.

In general it was taken as a purely hypothetical that realistically all would decline anyway so I got through :)

Were I to take a legitimate approach to these discussions this early a move on Cloke to free us of his salary and move up the draft order would be on the agenda.

With White gone at years end and Swan teetering we are in prime position to land Hurley ($$ wise) via FA plus get back into the draft which would be a dream outcome for me.

As good as the structures are with Cloke when he has gone out our forward line has actually functioned reasonably well, other players take more responsibility and the mids share the targets around more.

I guess the issue is this requires the midfield to be more dominant as the bail out kick will be untenable this though for us might be a good thing teach them to find another way.

On the flip side we have such a small sample to go off it could well be disastrous for where our team is at.

This is the last year of Cloke's contract (assuming he won't achieve the triggers required for his fifth year) anyway isn't it? So we'll be free of his current salary next year regardless, unless he starts performing to a much higher level.

I will be ropeable if the club give him another 750k pa contract.

I still can't believe we paid what we did for him, should have let him leave to Carlton. He hasn't been the same since that contract saga and is clearly obsessed with money having just sold his house for $3 million.

My assumption was that the triggers would be games related so I think it'll stand.

For mine the best outcome for us is that he triggers it and it roles over automatically. Because if he goes as a FA we effectively lose our ability to double dip.
