Was reading that the Hawks have said they have 8 untouchable players as far as trades go, but at the right price any other player on their list is up for grabs.

It got me thinking, who would be considered Collingwoods untouchables?

For me, we also have 8 purely because of their potential, or because their worth in a trade would be well below how much opposition clubs would give to us.

1. Beams
2. Pendlebury
3. Sidebottom
4. Swan
5. Shaw
6. O'Brien
7. Maxwell
8. Anthony

(could probably add Jolly to that list now too for the future)

Thoughts?

i know beams has signed with us for 3 yrs but im not sure if he would have got that contract if he wasnt from the GC, having him contracted puts us in a lot better position when the GC come knocking, i know he"s said he wants to stay but if they come up with a great deal we might take it IMO, all depends how he goes next year i suppose, so i wouldnt say he was untouchable yet anyway.

I would add Heath Shaw and Didak to that list.

To be perfectly honest, I don't think Anthony is 'untouchable'.* In fact, I think he is very trade-able. At this early stage, he appears to be too easily beaten (not just on the field, but in the mind). He doesn't seem to have the emotional strength to battle his way past some opponents. For instance, IMO he would have killed Lake on the lead, but he refused to, and thus got killed.#

* Yes, I know he kicked 50 goals in his first full season playing as a second tall when he should be a third, and when the first tall wasn't playing all that well anyways. I am more than happy to be proven wrong.

#Yes I know that Lake was AA this year.

*Anthony was the first tall, not the second, and the fact that he got the best defender and was double and triple teamed didn't help. And yes, Cloke stinking it up didn't help either.

1. Pendlebury
2. Thomas
3. Shaw
4. Cloke
5. O'Brien
6. Swan
7. N Brown
8. Reid

Beams, Sidebottom, Maxwell, Wood, Didak, Anthony unlucky to miss out... along with a few others, but I'm gettin silly.

It's a bit of a silly exercise this. If the player on the table is Franklin or Clark or Selwood, I imagine everyone's lists would shrink dramatically ;)

you guys are kidding!

the only untouchables on the list are pendles, swan & didak.

everyone else would be up for trade if someone like a buddy or ablett became available.

swan - best and fairest winner 2 years running.
pendlebury - improving, team is much better with him there.
beams - gun firsy year player
sidebottom - ^^
nate brown - far too important for future structure
harry - plays big/small
maxwell - captain
shaw - when in form makes collingwood a better side

I based my list around the 'big names' that have been thrown up this trade week.

If Buddy or Ablett were available, different story. Although I'd still probably have a list of 2 or 3 'untouchables'....

So you wouldn't trade Didak for Ablett?

I guess these 'untouchables' are players you wouldn't actively shop or offer up in a trade - but obviously if someone like Franklin is on the table suddenly everybody become bait.
