In regards to Wood, who is genuinely hopeless - the very few positives frm his night were the genuine hitouts to advantage that were straight on a teammates tit and also his workrate. He got back into defense with hard running quite a bit which held up Brisbane's forward thrusts. He ran Longer off his feet, as he should do against a first year player.

Can u imagine if longer was mid 20's and it was woods first game against brisbane? Wood would of been absolutely destroyed.

He should of done more against longer, i think that says a lot about the both of them.

One difference I do think I prefer Wood over Jolly atm is in Woods ability to actually jump off the ground we don,t see Jolly doing this much any more and the umpires are definitely stopping rucks from wrestling and Jolly has said this himself.

what a load of rubbish Ed.

His last game was vs Essendon, who behind West Coast have the best performed combo this year. Jolly pantsed both Bellchambers and Ryder with 34 hitouts and a goal.

He had a shocker vs Carlton, that is all. In fact in the other 4 matches he has played this year, he has beaten the opposition #1 ruckman quite convincingly - including vs the cult figure Maric. He has also snuck forward and kicked goals.

Rumours of his demise have been greatly exagerrated. He's already done plenty worthwhile this year. Glad we're nursing him through, so he is cherry ripe when it matters

Hope so, because right now, I put him well below his 2nd half of of 2010 levels, and I wasn't even a massive wrap for THOSE levels.

So put that one down to a difference of opinion.

Jolly is finished. Forget Jolly doing anything worthwhile this year.

Jolly has played 5 games so far in 2011

Rd 1 - 28 HOs and 2 goals, was the best ruck on the ground
Rd 2 - 25 HOs and 1 goal, was the best ruck on the ground
Rd 3 - 17 HOs and 0 goal, was smashed by Kreuzer and Hampson
Rd 4 - 36 HOs and 0 goal, was the best ruck on the ground
Rd 5 - 34 HOs and 1 goal, was the best ruck on the ground

He has beaten Hale, Maric, Renouf and Bellchambers

He is avg 28 HOs per game, apart from Sandi's, Mumford and Jamar who are 35 plus no other ruck is above 30.

Winning your position in 4 out of 5 games is going pretty well.

Dont discount what Marty is adding to our midfield on top of Beamsbottom

Really like his strong body in the contested situations and his running power and improving defensive work will be invaluable without Bally

Thought on Saturday he looked very comfortable and not lost in the midfield at all which might have used to be a problem

Nothing quite kills an argument or opinion like cold, hard statistics. Let's hope Jolly has made the most of the break and is ready, with a little bit of help from Dawes, to smash Geelong's ordinary ruck stocks on Friday.

I do not know whether or not I am 1 of the people with egg on their faces but Jolly,s feet hardly left the ground last night and that was my comment about him and it is ringing true.

I was watching a different game them. He had pretty good leap for most of the game.

I'm still indifferent between Jolly and Wood though.

Jolls is such a good ruck technician that his feet don't need to leave the ground for him to get the tap and to beat the opposition ruckman. By keeping his feet on the ground and by reading it better and by understanding body positionings it allows him to have a very high hitout to advantage count which few other rucks can achieve.
