Surely common sense will prevail and Collingwood Geelong will be transferred to the MCG on Saturday night. Conversely why not move Kangaroos v Melbourne to Manakua oval ??

Its evident that the Legion of Collingwood fans will not be catered for at Colonial as they would get a crowd of 60,000 at the MCG minimum. After all Collingwood are playing interstate this week and the hordes of fans will be waiting for the footy to return to Melbourne.

Sorry Miss Jackson u r a w***er!!!!!!!!!!!

Its hard to believe, but the Collingwood Geelong game is actualy a GEELONG home game!

IT SHOULDNT MATTER WHOSE HOME GAME IT IS. THE IMPORTANT THING IS TO ENABLE AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE TO WATCH THE GAME. REALLY LETS FACE FACTS GEELONG NEED EVERY SUPPORTER POSSIBLE. WHY WAS GEELONG CARLTON PLAYED AT THE MCG WHEN CLEARLY COLLINGWOOD DRAWS LARGER CROWDS THAN CARLTON.

AT THE END OF THE GEELONG WOULD BENEFIT FROM THE SWITCH AS THEY WOULD GET THE GATE RECEIPTS AS THEY ARE THE HOME CLUB. I JUST WANT EVERYONE WHO WANTS TO SEE THE GAME TO BE ABLE TO WATCH IT.

I totally agree. Don't hold your breath though, if they wouldn't move 1st vs 2nd from Colonial to the 'G' then they won't move this.

Nah they Afl wont even do that, Knowing those bastards at the Afl they will move the game too a lesser seating stadium down in Geelong.

JLC,

It's seems that you're trying to take the piss out of everyone, IMHO. Your arguments sound nearly exactly the same as when Dan argued that the Essendon vs Hawthorn match should be moved to the MCG.

Im all for the match being transferred to the MCG because this would mean much more Collingwood fans. Now why, you ask, is this a good thing? Because as it is a Geelong home game, Geelong would recieve the match gate takings (or whatever you call it). Which they badly, badly, badly need. The MCG is a much more financially sound stadium to play at. Much better than Colonial where it is difficult just to break-even.
Hopefully some Geelong fans might turn up as well.

Carlton DON'T draw big crowds unless its against Richmond,Essendon or Collingwood.

Geelong v Carlton should of been at Shell Stadium & Geelong v Collingwood at the MCG

I don't think it's essential that the Geelong-Collingwood match gets transferred.

It's a different situation to the Essendon-Hawthorn match in Round 9. For starters, Essendon vs Hawthorn was 1v2, and in my opinion would have drawn 75,000 to the MCG.

Geelong vs Collingwood will be, say, 5th vs 11th (roughly). Collingwood has a massive legion of fans, and I believe it would get "about" 60,000 at the MCG. It wouldn't get 75,000. Geelong aren't playing well, remember.

60,000 is not enough in my opinion to warrant a transfer. If 3,500 standing room tickets are released, that will increase the capacity to 55,000. For Essendon vs Hawthorn, 55,000 tickets were sold and the crowd was 50,701.

Now, if 55,000 tickets are sold for Geelong vs Collingwood at Colonial, that will ensure that everybody gets in. Even though it would draw 60,000 at the MCG, part of that would be MCC members who don't go to Colonial stadium. A crowd of 60,000 at the MCG is equivalent to 55,000 at Colonial (roughly).

Essendon play Geelong at Colonial in Round 15, and a similar conclusion an be drawn.

Should be moved...but if they won't move the most anticipated match of the season to date (and also the biggest flop of the season to date) there is not a hope in hell this will be moved, unless Collo stops giving it to Jackson up the a**e!

JUBJUB, I didn't get seats for Colonial games. I thought, why would I choose to sit somewhere I didn't like when I could turn up and sit in the General Admission and get a seat I do like.

Chris, the game between Essendon and Hawthorn wasn't moved because Essendon have such a good deal at Colonial, where they get first offer to buy seats or something like that. Therefore all their supporters could get in ahead of the Hawks fans. That leaves a majority of support to Essendon.
A move to the G would mean that there could be more Hawthorn fans there and less of a biased crowd.

I think if we are serious we should move it, to get a crowd of 60,000+ would be sensational for the club. We all know of the lack of financial gain from playing at Colonial too, don't we?
