i had a feeling that at times the collingwood players looked disinterested

No really an end of an era - more than continuation of one 2004-20?? the wilderness years for the club who used to boast that they were always a power. I honestly believe that they are now and are likely to be for some time a pretty average football team

One bad game and we are now a pretty avearge football team?

What about all the good games we have played, do you remember the Sydney game?

I don't remember seeing all these threads when West Coast got smashed..........

collingwood are nowhere near as good as they need to be to compete with the big guns - they are however infinitely closer to this goal than Essendon

as much as id like to get into collingwood because, well everyone loves to hate collingwood, but the same thing happened to us against adelaide. im confident that we can pull ourselves together today and run into the finals with some good form. collingwood will have a tough couple of weeks formwise but will also get themselves up, aided by an easy run home and will be competitive again come finals time. meanwhile essendon will drop further down the ladder, and have no final prospects whatsoever for the next few years.

More like wilderness years from 1959-1989 and then again from 1991-20??. Have done well this season for an average team of plodders, though.

It just helps illustrate what a brilliant coach Malthouse is - someone who is truly able to get the best out of his players

Hmm. Interesting that he stated publicly during the week his fear of getting the bullet as coach at some time down the track, though.

Collingwood are an ok team, Malthouse has them playing disciplined and accountable footy and they'll play finals, they just lack the stars to be a true contender.
Considering alot of people had them finishing in the bottom four this year they have done extremely well.

We are in the second or third year of a full rebuild of the footy club. It was only in 2005 that we finished 15th in the ladder, and in the bottom 4 for a second year in a row.

A couple of years later and we're still looking like making the finals for the second year in a row after people predicted that we'd be holding the ladder up from the bottom, and we lose one game badly and all of a sudden we're going to be bad for years?

Regardless of the Brisbane game, we have exceeded most people's expectations this season, and blooded more youngsters than any other team in the competition, IIRC.

Guys like Shaw, Cloke, Thomas, Pendlebury, O'Brien, Goldsack, Clarke and a range of others are all only going to get better - If we threw a few more games and finished in the 10-12 range would be be more of a rising side?

We're a side with a lot of young players, getting some wins on their form combined with some veteran help.

Well said and you managed to do it without slagging other clubs. Take note Pie fans.

You're spot on.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Where are they at? They are a middle of the rank team who are in limbo. When the pressure is off they look the part, but as soon as a little pressure is applied they go to water.

Alan Didak? Sheep dog. Dale Thomas? Mr. Invisible. Did Josh Fraser get a touch which wasn't handed to him by the umpire? If he did I cannot remember it.

They are definitely overrated by most, and while they will make the finals, it will be a quick exit.

Good post.

If all collingwood fans were as reasonable as this they wouldn't cop the flak they do after a loss.
