Collingwood's so called 'big fish'

We need to remember how much experience we've lost last year and possible this year if Johnno and/or Leon retire/head to WA.

Pearce could play Johnnos' role albeit, no where near as good defensively but he's quick and has a decent left foot disposal. I think he may be a Bucks type with his footskills, which I rate as fairly good.

I would like him, I actually rate him and can see him dominating in a good side. He is a bit of a front runner but with the list we have that shouldnt matter, he is very quick and can do some damage up forward.

Would he be a good replacement for Wellingham IFwe were to lose him? (JFTR I rate Wellingham higher).

But could we offer GWS Wellingham in a package with a Goldsack/Caff/? to try and nab a 17 yr old (could this work for Jaegar?).

Use what we can get for Leon from WA (provided that he wanted to go home at season's end) plus ___________ for Pearce?

With al this talk of trading for Vince and now Pearce, I'd think our 1st rounder is most definitely on the table. A pick in the mid 20s' is obviously considered rubbish by Hine.

I'd have no problem trading it for a player who can make his way into our best 22, immediately.

His deffintily a confidence player, and with someone else getting him the ball, and full of confidence he could be very very good. However also a chance he'll really struggle. Its a punt, but a punt id take for any price thats reasonable considering how much experience weve lost recently. Great pace and agility would be a good addition to our midfield, however skills can be on and off and lacks strength.

Would support the club going after Pearce.

Haven't bothered watching much Port.A in recent years since they haven't been a hugely relevant team.

In a good team being an outside player would increase his production.

Would fit into our best 22 easily and would be a best 15 player.

:thumbsu:

highly talented and given a chance for some space, his position in the pecking order means he'd get that space against most opponents, therefore providing the confidence he oozed in his 1st year or 2.

brilliant kick when balanced and likely a good addition while our window is open. any player who possesses a touch of class is a welcome addition when adding flags is a realistic proposition.

and considering our brilliant recruiting department at present, trading away higher draft picks for established quality and then picking the eyes out of the 'also rans' is a damn good option.

Isn't his old man a Collingwood supporter? He is certainly good mates with Joffa anyway, so I could actually believe this. I reckon he's one of those guys that has to be in a good team to have an impact, which isn't really a good thing but given our position I wouldn't be totally against it.

I think his Father did the Big Ride(Vic to SA?) with Joffa?

Good player in a good side. I support this. But I think we need to get the good end of the deal to do it. I wouldn't go out on a limb for him.

I think he could play well at the Pies, but I don't see him being that great. Talk of a first round pick and/or a fringe player, I wouldn't be happy with that, although I'm sure our recruiting staff know his worth to the team and wouldn't pay overs for him, considering he's not essential.

Can't say I believe this anyway. We'll find out in November I guess or whenever trade week is.

This is the sort of player we could realistically get. I think those of us expecting the big fish (if we are really after one) to be an actual big fish are going to be disappointed I think. Pearce, I dunno. Would be interested in a Port perspective on him.

Agree a Big Fish I think would never have Happen unless Daisy Left.

Where Pearce would be a More Realistic Target.

Plus Hine have taken players who have been Struggling at there Club Bringing them here and Turning there Career around

He looks a lot worse at port than what he actually is, his no doubt an outside player and at port has noone to get him the ball, plus he gets the number 1 tag and has crap ruckmen plus most of the time his chasing the other team. Add in his shot confidence having to get smashed every week, and his improvement could be huge at collingwood. his got a lot of potential but his the type of player whos hit or miss.

If it all eventuates, i think Pearce would be a very good get for Collingwood with his skills and he'd be a lot more damaging player on a good team.

Poor Port though.

Why do you say that?? Unless he goes to GWS he is contracted until the end of next season so he wouldn't come cheaply.

Interesting one this,

Not quiet sure if I can see it happening.

He would have to come across for a lot less cash as surely you guys could not fit him into your cap, he would be on a lot of coin.

SA Boy, Wife and Kid/s here and a pretty important player in our side. Has actually had a fairly good year this year, has improved.

In a side like Collingwood, he would be a total superstar though - the comparison earlier in the thread to S. Burgoyne would be pretty accurate.

He is contracted, but to be honest not entirely sure if your first round pick (would have to be 26?) plus a Fringe player will be enough. Dont think he is worth as much draft pick wise as Burgoyne was, but for Port to trade him you would have to offer something around that region in my opinion.

Has been a lot of word about our players leaving this year though, and besides our two retirements - everyone is still here :).
