I thought he looked ok on a few occasions leading up the ground.

Give the kid a break, he's come in for his first hit out for the year in a game vs the team a lot of people think are unbeatable and bound for another flag.

You wait til he's got a few games under his belt and our forward structure is more settled. Then he'll show his worth.

What does Houlihan have to do with Collins?

After a bad start, Collo settled and showed some poise as the game went on.

The last player who deserves to be dropped. #Carrazzo

Dont talk rubbish. He nearly lost the game by himself at the turning point in the 3rd,

DO NOT SUGAR COAT THIS.

Terrible way to blood a young player. What were they thinking by

a) bringing him in against the best team in the league?

b) Making him a sub so he has to come on later in the game when we were most likely going to be losing.

This sets up the whole "oh good, lets see if the new kid can add a spark to the game" And then of course when he comes on he is nervous as all hell because he is playing in front of 90,000 people for his first game and is more then likely going to be making mistakes from sheer anxiety and adrenaline.

By Creating that scenario you are pretty much feeding the kid to fans who are already in critique mode, looking for reasons why we are losing and what players should be dropped etc.

WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINKING!!!:thumbsd:

Armfield should have been the sub this game (tough, fast, more experienced player). I say forget about his game tonight and wait till his next, then judge him. But to judge on tonight's game is just unfair.

I dont often agree with you ASMS, but coming on as a sub would have left him as a bundle of nerves. He did a couple of good things, but the nerves from the wait would have affected him.

Give him a couple of starting games and he will sort himself out and come good for us.

I would have gone with Army for this match and used Carrots as the sub and given Collins a start next week on the forward line.

I thought he was ok too. Just didn't get into the speed at the very beginning. I thought he ran pretty well, straight away he was already better than some of the players on the ground all night.

Made the Grigg trade look a shocker for us tonight.

Hopefully he improves.
What i saw of him he hasn't got the size just yet could be good in the long run.

I still take Grigg over him at the moment but i reckon Carlton underestimated Grigg.

Grigg probably knew with Ratten their chances was he wouldn't get a gig ahead of Carrazoo,Scotland,Russell and Robinson.I personally feel he should have been ahead of all but Russell.I'm glad Robinson getting a full run hopefully Lucas isn't the next player to move.

I agree the best subs will be the likes of Houilhan,Thornton anyone that can play multiple positions and make a impact even Walker.Colllins was a nobody at the moment would make no impact just like a Davies or any kid with a few games. The sub can be your trump card just when the other players are tiring someone fresh but can play can make a mark.

Get back in the cot.

We lost the game in the second quarter, not the third.

I do believe that it was the second :)

Honestly, some people just want to bag the shit out of our players.

Collins was on the ground for a quarter and a bit... made a couple of mistakes, had a bad marking decision against him and did a couple of good things.

All in all, it was a better performance than some of the people who played from the get go...

They are probably just angry he didn't get them 100 points in their stupid Dream Team competition.

Collins can be that trump card at his best.

He will eventually be able to push up through the midfield while playing on a HFF.

He has the ability to kick 2-3 goals in a quarter if we get the ball to him properly.

This:thumbsu: Andy is a 'impact' player but doesn't have a great tank - yet. Give him time, I'm sure this trade will be win/win.

People who a bagging Collins after he played 15 minutes obviously want a premiership yesterday.

The kid is like 20 and came on as a sub, very late.

The one thing I've notice after watching him in the Aints last week and the limited game time he had last night is that he finds space and is able to lose his man. Once he gets more field time we'll see this and he'll be very creative going forward.

Collins is a different type of player to Grigg.
Grigg is quicker, fitter and better at winning the hard ball.
However, you guys probably have that area well covered with guys like Judd, Murphy, McLean etc.
Collins on the other hand has better disposal, is better around goals and more composed than Grigg. Collins always struck me as one of those guys who always seems to have time.
The two guys have different strengths and weaknesses.
Despite initially being furious at the trade, I actually think it will turn out to be a win for both clubs, and better for both the players (although I'm not completely sold on Grigg, I have question marks over his disposal).

Give Collins a chance, he can play some good footy and is a natural goalkicker, will be a handy player on the HFF/Wing.

He showed something

Write off the handball turnover that lead to a goal...he has height, can run and dispose.

He also found a bit of it and took the game on a few times

I dont mind him

armfield dropped for collins im not sure that was the right move but lets give him more time to find his feet in a new team hopefully he can improve us as a team

Could Collins replace Walker?...Frankly, I don't think Walkers head is screwed on right and unless he starts taking the required sensible marks, he's no more than a small forward with an average kick. Collins, with a good kick could be an immediate improvement. I don't know Collins well enough yet, but I'm pretty sick of Walker not playing to what should be his strengths. Walker is a great physical specimen but I don't think he has the mental requirements for modern day footy.

Clubhouse leader for the stupidest post of the year.

Is that you Fev?

Why?

Are you saying that you would take Collins ahead of Grigg at the moment?

Was devastated when I heard the trade go through and still haven't seen anything of Collins (includes training, intra club and practice matches) to make me think differently.

Happy to be proven wrong but dont tell me it is the stupidest post of the year.

It was the stupidest post of the year.

Others have a higher opinion of Collins who impressed in the VFL last week.

Collins sat on the bench for a half, yet you expect him to come out and dominate against the reigning premiers.

Showed more than Leon Davis who came off the bench and turned it over.

Armfield doesn't get enough of the ball and use it well enough to get a spot.

Collins has poise and vision after he took a step and centred it to the correct position 35 out.
