Listening to SEN this morning they were talking about how many players from 2 sides would go into one, for example if you combined Collingwood and Hawthorn what the team would look like.
This got me thinking if we combined 2 sides but sorted the order according to finishing positions in2019.
For example Richmond who finished 1st combined with Gold Coast who finished last.
Giants 2nd with Melbourne 17th
Geelong 3rd with Carlton 16th
Collingwood 4th with Sydney 15th
Brisbane 5th with St.kilda 14th
West Coast 6th with Fremantle 13th
Bulldogs 7th with North 12th
Essendon 8th with Adelaide 11th
Hawthorn 9th with Port Adelaide 10th

Of these combos who makes the strongest side? At a glance I’d say the giants and Melbourne would be a very strong looking team especially with Gawn taking number 1 ruck that the giants are desperately lacking.
Just looking at a combined Richmond Suns side it’s hard to find many Suns players that would make the side however I’ll give it a go.

Richmond/Gold Coast
B - grimes (rich) astbury(rich) vlaustin (rich)
HB - houli (rich) rance (rich) short (rich)
C - Pickett (rich) Prestia (rich) Caddy (rich)
HF - Lambert (rich) Riewoldt (rich) Stack (rich)
FF - Castagna (rich) Lynch (rich) Rioli (rich)
R - Nankervis (rich) Martin (rich) Cotchin (rich)
I - Graham (rich) Soldo (rich) Bolton (rich) Ellis (Suns)

Be interested to see everyone’s sides and the differences with the players selected depending on which set of supporters are putting the team together.

Very true, put it together, love to see who you’d have in it.
Well, as a rough guide

Collingwood
B: Jeremy Howe, Jordan Roughead, Tom Langdon
HB: Jack Crisp, Darcy Moore, Brayden Maynard
C: Tom Phillips, Scott Pendlebury, Taylor Adams
HF: Steele Sidebottom, Brody Mihocek, Jordan De Goey
F: Jamie Elliott, Mason Cox, Jaidyn Stephenson
Foll: Brodie Grundy, Dayne Beams, Adam Treloar
I/C: Will Hoskin-Elliott, Chris Mayne, Josh Thomas, Callum Brown

Sydney
B: Callum Mills, Dane Rampe, Lewis Melican
HB: Jordan Dawson, Aliir Aliir, Jake Lloyd
C: Isaac Heeney, Josh Kennedy, Oliver Florent
HF: Tom Papley, Sam Reid, Will Hayward
F: Nick Blakey, Lance Franklin, Tom McCartin
Foll: Callum Sinclair, Luke Parker, George Hewett
I/C: Zak Jones, Harry Cunningham, Ben Ronke, James Rowbottom

though there are differences now because of trades but I would go with

B: Callum Mills, Dane Rampe, Aliir Aliir
HB: Jake Lloyd, Darcy Moore, Brayden Maynard
C: Isaac Heeney, Josh Kennedy, Scott Pendlebury
HF: Tom Papley, Mason Cox, Jordan De Goey
F: Nick Blakey, Lance Franklin, Jaidyn Stephenson
Foll: Brodie Grundy, Luke Parker, Adam Treloar
I/C: Taylor Adams, Steele Sidebottom, Dayne Beams, Jordan Dawson

That is a very rough guess though, and I am sure Collingwood fans would disagree. It is also bloody top heavy.

It seems like this thread was made just so you could post your “combined” Richmond / Gold Coast team.
It may not be the most productive use of our time but I think threads like this can be interesting, especially in the off season. I have often wondered if a sort of representative football could be done using a method like this (though I would have 3 teams combine).

I was having a bit of fun with the tigers suns team although I do really struggle to see many suns players make the team. No I was actually interested to see which combo based on ladder positions would make the strongest team.

Very strong team although I think I’d find a position in the starting 18 for Sidebottom and Adams. Cox I’d struggle to have in Collingwoods 22 let alone a combined one. Other than that pretty good job.

LMAO at the fact that you have Howe and Crisp both missing.

Luckily for us you have Jordan ******* Dawson getting a game. Holy hell.

I didn't think Howe was that good. No idea about Crisp. Also Dawson was bloody good in 2019, easily one of the Swans most attacking weapons.

Feel free to change the team though, as I don't have a monopoly on knowledge and am more than willing to admit to being wrong sometimes.

Crisp finished third in our best and fairest playing half back and Howe was our best player of the finals. These aren’t exactly anonymous players that don’t have a tangible impact. Rampe is the only Swans player that probably gets picked ahead of them in the backline. Crisp is an upgrade on Lloyd and Howe an upgrade on Allir (though I could at least make an argument that Allir should also be in the team).

Witts is probably a better ruck than Nank.

Fiorini and Touk Miller both get a game.

That’s just off the top of my head.

edit: Alex Sexton can probably slot in somewhere as well.

Yeah I toyed with witts, don’t think he has the aggression of nank however. Fiorini wouldn’t get a place in our 22 and miller maybe if we wanted a run with player which we rarely do.

so you basically started this thread so you could list a Richmond team with a Gold Coast player in it that was actually a Richmond player up until a few weeks ago?

Fiorini is elite. You’re kidding yourself if you don’t think he’d be in every teams best 22.

Lachie Weller is another I forgot who could probably crack the side.

Essendon/Adelaide is extremely hard... And a very good team.

B Laird - Talia - Saad
HB Milera - Hurley - McKenna
C Shiel - Sloane - B.Crouch
HF Lynch - Daniher - Fantasia
F McDonald-Tipungwuti - Walker - Stringer
R O’Brien - Merrett - M.Crouch
Int. Heppell - Hooker - D.Smith - McGrath/B.Smith
Emg. McGrath/B.Smith - Gibbs - Parish - Doedee - Francis - Fogarty - Redman - Bellchambers - Gleeson - Ambrose

Help would be appreciated Adelaide folk... Tell me if I’ve overrated/underrated your players.

I also no doubt probably missed someone from either side.

Not at all, I started the thread as it’s an interesting subject and wanted to see how different set of supporters See how their players line up in a combined team.
Just because a Richmond supporter started the thread doesn’t mean it’s a troll.

Love how you concede to Gold Coast by putting in one player - who is an ex-Tiger.

Witts, Weller, Fiorini, Sexton, Swallow and potentially Miller and Rankine would get games at Richmond.

No sides 22nd player is better than another sides 1-5. Not at any AFL club.
Yeah, this. The first three, for sure, Witts would push out a ruckman and Weller and Fiorini must be better than a host of the bottom 3-4 players at Richmond.
