Was it just me or was he barracking for us tonight? I thought he sounded a bit more excited than usual and was quite sincere in his praise for our effort. He also sounded deflated when Roughead kicked the sealer

Is he back on the bandwagon?
 
I think its just nice to have a commentator that doesnt slurp in everytime he speaks aka Jacko.....

Good game, but you were doomed from the start as i tipped you. I have not got one single Freo tip right this year!:(
 
From WA. Played a few games for Fitzroy. Coached West Perth for a while before he became a media presenter. Only ever seen him in the flesh once - he's a tall skinny guy - probably around the 6' 4" mark. Apparently was a ruckman.
 
I don't think he has admitted any alleigence to any team as such, he makes no secret that he likes both WA clubs, and that he is members of both teams(in fact I have heard it is several teams). I know in the early days in particular he took us under his wing (especially our Clive). We are just lucky to have someone to balance out Bruce, who is very much critical of anything Freo.
 
Definently sounded like it at times.

At one point where Buddy was tackled as soon as he took posesion, he sceamed out 'HOLDING THE BALL! THAT'S GOTTA BE HOLDING THE BALL!' only to look like a fool moments later when he realised he actually got away a handball....

I do like Dennis tho, I just thought he was a tad bias last night....
 
Was out and out barracking for Freo. To make it worse Bruce, who desperately needs the approval of his fellow commentators, got in on the act by making acceptable comments to this barracking.

Dennis used to luurrve Clive :D His voice would go up a notch every time he went near the ball.

I really wish Bruce would have a fatal accident or something. He is a complete sycophant and makes comments that would be more appropriate to a school girl with a crush on the players than a footy commentator. He also does this thing of making his voice "gravelly' when he wants to sound more manly. I remember when he started doing it a few years ago it made me want to puke...and still does. I dunno how the other commentators can sit in the box with him
 
Agreed both Dennis and Bruce seemed to support the Freo side and wanted them to get up.

Thought Nathan Buckley was very good,he'll make a good coach one day.

Gotta agree with all that. I've never liked Bruce as a commentator, possibly one of a minority as I hear people say often that he has only recently lost it. As I don't listen to most of the sports that Channnel 7 had access to when they lost the football, I was able to forget how bad Bruce was. Since, Channel 7 has had the football back I find myself doing one of the following - feeling embarassed by his girly commentary, muting the volume, or turning the TV off.
 
I always like it when Dennis is calling the game. He may not be at his absolute best atm, but he's still very good. One thing I noticed last night: he seemed to grunt and groan rather than speakind which was a bit annoying after a while. Perhaps that suggests he was spectating more than commentating.

Dennis appears to have real issues with the hawks. Noticed in last years gf that he blatantly barracked for geelong, presumed at the time that he had put his house on the cats winning, obviously I presumed wrong.

He never played for Fitzroy and is a Western Bulldogs fan as Nurries mentioned
 
He always leans towards the WA teams.

Aside from that, he always seems to be favouring the team that we play. I don't think that he likes us for some reason.

I think he's just trying to balance out McAvaney's apoplectic adoration of Cyril and Buddy... :rolleyes:

Seriously, you can almost hear Bruce's desperate desire to put his hand on it, every time one of them goes near the ball. :D

Can't comment on last nights game because I haven't watched the replay yet but Commentators always talk up the team that's losing to keep people interested.
