Yea for such a "nice" boring guy like Bob to consciously or subconsciously imply that there is feeling and to be dismissive of us, I just cant help think they are intimidated by us
The general view in the media is that the Bulldogs have impressed by beating the contenders. Very few say we are impressive because we beat the Bulldogs. One media person (may have been Robbo's sidekick, Gerard) said when we played them they couldn't get their offensive game going.

I watched On the Couch on Monday and apart from saying we beat Richmond, and then talking about their crapness for many minutes, we didn't get a mention. Then I thought further and I don't think Hawthorn or Sydney got mentioned either.

It's pointless worrying about it anyway, I suppose.

Perhaps we should have let them get their offensive game going, then maybe we might have lost and could have been "brave in defeat".

It's pointless worrying about it anyway, I suppose.

Lol. It's uncanny. I went through the exact same thought process as you, in the exact same order, while watching On the Couch. I came to the same conclusion as well.

I would have posted earlier but Microsoft Windows 10 invaded my laptop last Thursday night and froze the whole bloody thing. I was "off the air" for nearly 5 days.

Damn you Windows 10, damn you to hell!!!

How can that be the general view?

They beat West Coast at Etihad, have lost to us, Hawthorn and GWS, and haven't played Geelong and Sydney.

Bingo!

They also beat Adelaide by the way, with a little help from Bulldog Pannell, iirc. They also get more credit from the media than we get for beating the Crows.

Anyone watching the mid-season round table review on Fox at the moment? I can only assume they've spent most of the show talking us up and singing our praises?
They only spoke about us briefly:

- could not have positioned ourselves better. took full advantage of our draw
- challenge will come in second half of season. Johnno says we will definitely finish top 4 but he expects top 2.
- Kingy said we have unique players (Waite, Wells, Harvey, Ziebell) that will help our chances.
- Kingy said that he thinks we have to be the healthiest list come Septmenber because he's not sure about our 22-25th ranked players
- Healy said something about needing to get back Higgins and Jacobs and get them fit before September to have a chance.
- Kingy is genuinely fapping himself silly on national television over how good the Dogs and Adelaide are. I mean properly pants around the ankles, appendage in hand, reciting statistics in increasing fequency and with an ever higher pitch, waving his free hand overhead clutching an image of the Bont as he reaches his impending climax.

In fairness to Kingy, they pretty much all were. No coincidence it's a circle table.

You're getting me excited about the Doggies with that description. Now where is my cardboard cut out of Duckie Hunter?

You forgot Johnno adding in that North can't win the flag in 2017 because the list is too old.

Kingy. FFS. Why doesn't anyone call his bullshit out? Loved it when they put up his stupid "Predictor" (his graphic that he's blabbed on endlessly about for the best part of 2 years that ground-breakingly suggests that scoring goals and not conceding many is good) after having his aforementioned toss over the Dogs and Adelaide and...neither were in his "premiership ready" quadrant. Oh, well...y'know...they're heading towards it and this might be the year someone comes from out it. Fine...Quit jabbering on about it if you've finally decided it's useless just because this time it doesn't match your wet-dream!!!

I wish he was asked who he thought our 22-25th players were. Chances are they're guys who are currently in the side and doing OK. Oh, well...y'know...they've had a really soft draw...only used 32 players...13 have played in every game...they're ranked #13 in some pointless stat I don't even understand myself...

He is as boring as they come. I thought the same when he said that. Makes you just want us to smash them into submission next time we play them

Although he believes all his analysis is some type of unique revelation, credit to Brereton for arguing that the Bulldogs' contested ball stats are only as good as they are because they send one if not two extra players than the opposition very close to stoppages and then play at least one extra on the ball which means they don't score enough. Kingy wouldn't have a bar of it.

Because he and his club have achieved nothing throughout his career. People don't like seeing their enemy do well. Can almost guarantee if someone such as Bartel had gone down instead there wouldn't be as much 'support' or 'hope' for him to come back. Sure there would be people saying it's a shame etc, but Bob and the bulldogs are a club that don't have a winning mentality = no genuine threat subconsciously in opposition supporters.

This shit has to stop, wtf is going on????

I assume we will be awarded the '94 & '98 flags tomorrow morning.
So I guess we are adding 'only win because oppo can't kick straight' to the ever-growing AFL media document; 'why North aren't that good - an exercise in straw-clutching'?

Adelaide lost Round 1 because they had a brain explosion and we ran over them.
WB lost Round 6 (?) because WE CONTROLLED THE GAME. (And FWIW they were never in their game against the Giants either, completely outplayed.)

Whatever

My favourite bit of that article:

"Then against North Melbourne in Round 6 it was the same story. The Bulldogs had one fewer scoring shot than the Kangaroos but had higher-quality chances, meaning in a game they lost by 16 points, they should have won by eight."

They had one less scoring shot than us, but they still totally should have won anyway?

To balance that though he did select us as the team who'll win the 2016 Premiership, with most of the rest selecting Sydney.
