Have you ever listened to the commentators when a team is losing and they keep calling for the losing team to “take risks” because they say it’s better to get flogged than lose without trying something different. Saturday’s game shows the “reality” of that approach. It, also, I’d argue, underlines the effect of the umpiring blunders. Once we fell behind, we started to take more risks going through the middle.

As soon as we started to bite off the 45 we were pretty f***ed.

Was a clear deviation from everything Shaw had seemingly been trying to implement.

Saturday night was $hit but in terms of timing it's actually OK. Rhyce can now see that there are big issues and they need addressing.

I'm happy to make a selection statement this week in response.

The end of the year cannot come fast enough and it could get ugly(ier) before we get there.

Biggest preseason in years coming up.

Roll on 2020.

Fair call. Just need to find a spot for him as he certainly isn’t an inside player and TT has clearly overtaken him. Less soft shoe shuffle, more defensive acts required.

no he's inside and outside. his best game vs saints he had 21 contested possessions! He work best in the contest with his side stepping. after it's out of the contest he really isn't very quick straight line running, has a solid burst of speed for the first 10-20m.

But something has changed since then. Also had a great game in round 15 against Collingwood. Since then he’s been lucky to average 7 contested possessions per game as a mid, with hardly any clearances from the centre.
He waits for it to be fed out to him, but who’s in charge of doing that.

Slobo in the herald sun saying Brad Scott will be working at headquarters under Steve hocking.
Will cost North some money as job not paying as much as his North coaching job.

..............but....................North Melbourne comes first......................doesn't it?

Honestly the club should come out once the figure is finalized and do a Brad's farewell gift fundraiser.

It makes lite of the whole situation and people would pay it'll also make it very public how Brad is about Brad.

Woah woah hang on.

What happened to the stampede from all the other clubs to grab this once in a generation financial advisor leader of young men?

It would be fitting if it could be a Boystown style raffle for a property portfolio.

yep, and he got 17 contested possessions vs collingwood...

in all of his top 10 possession games over 50% are contested.

yea, if he's waiting for it to be fed out to him he's going to probably end the game with less clearances and possessions because over 50% of his game is on the inside....

something has changed since then, he's out of form.

The trouble with that ground is its all middle.

Um, ok, we get it. It was a really s**t effort. We all get that. McGowan's numbers simply reflect that. But continually making the point is becoming unnecessary.
Disagree.

These shite efforts have been happening for 10 years - it's not a once off - the idea that we 'just move on' is a key reason why they keep happening because there are simply no repercussions.

Indeed it is not even a once off shite effort under Shaw - we have had 3 ordinary to woeful efforts since he took over and the reasons for it are all the same - shocking efforts by experienced players - most notably those playing in the midfield. He dropped Jed for one game - not enough! Drop a Cunnington, Zeibull or Higgo - make a statement that there is a new sheriff in town and if we kick 1 goal in a game of football and get beaten so badly for effort around the contested ball then you wont be playing senior football the following week.

Supporters and members should be venting that these 'efforts' are unacceptable and we/they need to keep saying it until there is something done about it.

'Just moving on' will not cut it anymore and we will learn a lot about Shaw and which way he wants to take the club on Thursday night. We will also see how the majority of the North supporter base takes it on Saturday night by whether they show up or not. It's not looking good at all right now.

Seriously mate!
You’re popping a blood vessel for nothing.
Do you honestly believe that a rant on Big Footy is something the Club gives a s**t about or even reads.
Jumping up and down for a week demanding players be dropped might get you a few likes, but that’s about all. If you believe any different your delusional.
It doesn’t take Members to tell the Club that last weeks performance was less than acceptable and they certainly aren’t looking to BF or supporters for answers.😂

Take the meds the doctor tells you are needed for your condition pal - you are all hyped up on something and as always making no sense on any topic.

You do know that our VFL side lost by about 100 points on Saturday? What sort of statement would we be making promoting half a dozen players from that side to the AFL on Saturday night?

Whether it's this week or next year, Shaw will need to drop players if they continue to play poorly. Otherwise, very little will have actually changed.
