When did the Western Bulldogs become a power club? Did I miss the memo?
They are a classic example of a short term fad. Just like ironic moustaches and rolled up skinny jeans, sooner rather than later they'll be on the outer and just plain embarrassing.

Maybe this campaigner can be relocated to Minneapolis.

Mate, he is being facetious. He's basically saying that Caro & Hutchy will use any excuse to start up the relocation talk.

Ok. I didn't recognise the facetious intent. Generally AFL reporters are more likely to be talking faeces which is why i reacted that way.

Back to the grumpy old thread for me i think.

Yeah he’s backed us to the hilt, highlighting Caro and co’s obsession with relocating North at every opportunity.

What gift?
Don't you remember, the all-conquering Saints were on the March towards finals and they just stopped....It couldn't have been us that stepped up in that second half. No way.

Something something Brad Hill - Splooooooosh!
Something something - Zac Jones - splooooooosh!

Honestly think he's on the money with this approach, might be tough for the club to do it but I think we should all make a habit of taking the piss out of the relocation talk at every opportunity. It takes power away from them if we use their talking points as the butt of a joke constantly.

Don't forget how much Dunstall sucked off Dan "Richmond VFL" Butler.

What I found hilarious about some of our round 1 media reports was that North won't win many games scoring 54 points yet the Saints scored less but they'll be okay because.

AFL stars ‘not willing’ to take pay cuts may cause trade bonanza — with three clubs to benefit

Multiple AFL clubs are poised to strike this off-season and poach rival players in an unprecedented spree, enabled by potential list cuts and an ensuing salary cap squeeze.

The Herald Sun’s Jon Ralph reports clubs including North Melbourne, Melbourne and Carlton have around half of their lists currently contracted into 2021 and beyond. In turn they have sizeable portions of their salary caps available to use.

That is becoming particularly important with many players unwilling to accept looming pay cuts of as much as 20 to 25 per cent.

If the AFL does cut list sizes, and salary cap shrinks in the process, some players are said to be open to moving to a club that can afford what they were expecting to be paid in 2021.

“It’s my understanding that some players are just not willing to take those pay cuts, and they’ll be prepared to move to a club that can accommodate their 2021 salary in its entirety,” Ralph told Fox Sports News’ AFL Tonight.

“North Melbourne is one of those clubs very poised to strike. I understand only 22 players of their 45-person list are contracted through to 2021, and they also - as they have the last couple of years - have significant salary cap space.

“Clubs like that with real flexibility, if list sizes are to come down, are really looking for the opportunity to poach rival clubs’ players, they’ll be in a very positive space.

“North Melbourne in that space, Melbourne another club that has about 20 players out of contract, Carlton about half of their players out of contract.”

By comparison, a team like Gold Coast that has 41 of its 51 listed players contracted through 2021 won’t have much flexibility if there are dramatic changes to the AFL player structure following the coronavirus pandemic.

“That (players being signed) would usually be seen as an amazing thing,” Ralph said.

“But in this time when the watchwords are agility and flexibility, North Melbourne is in a really good spot if they can rise up the ladder and be seen as a destination club once again.”

THE SEVEN GAMES THAT MADE THE SAINTS' No.7
1999, round 5 v North Melbourne, SCG

Hayes' debut is best remembered for him being on the receiving end of a crunching bump from Kangaroos great Glenn Archer. After the ball trickled along the wing, the 19-year-old Hayes attempted to sidestep Archer but was flattened by a side-splitting hit. It was the first display of the toughness that came to define Hayes' career. "It's one of those moments that I still haven't been able to live down. He got me fair and square right up the middle. It's the difference between coming out of under-18 footy and playing with the big boys," he said.

I was working for Lenny's cousin when that happened. Huge North fan. Came in on Monday morning and said "I told him to watch out for Arch!"
