I do reckon. As I said “IMO”. I viewed him as an out and out gun, capable of the seemingly impossible. Pace, leap, perfect skills on both sides of the body. As good as anyone I’ve ever seen. Outside the true believers I suspect he was seen as flashy and is virtually forgotten all these years later, but for his Mark of the Year. He was much more than that IMO.

No argument here he was sublime. We used to comment that he was everything Akermanis was and more. So from that perspective you might be right in terms of their relative profiles.

Maybe I happened to be working/mixing with a particularly enlightening opposition crowd at the time then. Winnie was very much appreciated as a favourite of the Geelong and Melbourne supporters I knew.

Not really. Was offered a contract early in the season, didn't accept it, got injured and things changed. Hardly pushed him out the door IMO.

Its more that we are always portrayed as the bad guys all the time. When other clubs do similar things, it barely gets a mention. Had a gutful of it TBH. Really has nothing to do with Brown.
