I am absolutely not excusing anything just giving context.

And you are right, the way it played out we have essentially traded Daniel for our 1st pick this year.

Wait till the media works that out. Traded pick 2 for Caleb Daniel 😂

Pick 2 you say....

Has anyone from the club actually addressed the members since Friday?

Or is still Jy's BS 3AW interview and Clarko's presser. Not to mention wheeling Tristan Xerri out to the Sunday footy show like he was a hostage.

The club is firmly in the grip of damage control. I've come around from 'say nothing and show us what you've got on Saturday.' I think the amount of disillusionment and even anger across the supporter base requires some addressing. Silence in damage control rarely makes things better, but saying something you aren't going to follow through on is worse.

Clarko is obliged to do a presser postgame - it's literally the least he can do, Jy's 3AW appearance was an effort but unfortunately he was not prepared and said things that made it worse, X had an ill-timed Footy Show Handball to fulfill and handled himself well enough.

An email from Sonja would annoy me no end. She's the boss, but she's not the one at the coalface fixing specific issues on the footy field. She'd divert us with membership numbers, fundraising from Good Friday, and other issues that are secondary to the core business of winning footy games. Basically, I just want her and the board to be more demanding of the football department, and not come out and tell me things I don't need to hear or things that she can't back up.

Ultimately it has to be Clarkson, and he normally does a Thursday presser. I just hope he parks all the 'on the right track', 'these things take time', 'have a look at some other club's rebuild from back in the day' nonsense and gives us some straight talk without throwing his team under the bus. What's gone wrong in the past month, why has the team fallen off so badly from a promising start, what are we working on to fix it?

Some honesty and a commitment to be better - I'd accept that.

Hearing from Viney would also be interesting. Hearing from the CEO, just to confirm she exists. And maybe hearing from Andrew Swallow just to confirm that he's on the board to advise on football matters.

I've been thinking a lot about the word "synergy" since X said that. Because I think it means we won't see more than one or two changes this week.

They think we have the right cattle, they just need to play together more often.

That's why they made so much about the Wardlaw, Sheezel, Duursma, O'Sullivan and McKercher playing together for the first time (and why Duursma was brought in vs GC despite not being scintillating in the twos, and why McKercher wasn't dropped despite some terrible efforts in that game, too). It's why they only made one change despite being visibly knackered in the second half vs Gold Coast. It's why some guys get dropped easily, others have excuses made for them week after week, and others find it hard to get back in despite consistently good performances in the VFL.

I might be wrong. In fact, I hope I'm wrong, because there are at least half a dozen who could/should be on the chopping block, but I'm not holding my breath.
I don't think I've ever used the word synergy .... maybe twice or thrice, might be it's the new buzz word. Thought it had summat to do with oil ....

"Just for recreation's sake to pass the time away" has never been more true of this club.

"Now's not the time to be a bastard, now is the time to be a teacher". Maybe he needs to be both.

Anyone that’s played the game knows that a constantly yelling coach will eventually end up as white noise to the players but a good old fashioned bake/reality check is definitely warranted at the right time.

THIS IS the ****in time Clarko!..

Geraldo wouldn’t know because the only kick he got as a kid was when he tried to get his Lego blocks out of the toaster with a fork..

You don't have to scream and shout to set standards.

Make it known what you're expecting, as calmly or explosively as you wish, and then back it up at selection. Explain to them why, explain to their mates why it will be them next if they don't shape up, and explain to them why this is necessary for everyone to see success.

lol
we go back to flooding, invite opposition forward half pressure and they set up behind the ball and wait for the hack kick out of our defensive 50.
Then they switch to the open side and score anyway.

I think we just about pack it in.
If the forwards are no good and the midfield is lazy and the defenders are useless then the whole football department should just go.

I use Synergy all the time.

It's the name of the biggest electricity company in WA....

“What the **** was that boys? What the ****? LUKE, Cameron, Griffen, JUYYZA, WHAT THE **** was that??

NO campaigner THAT PLAYS FOR ME, Will EVER NOT ****ING TRY”

That’ll do. Get out.

Simple, short sharp.

Then debrief and work it out Sunday. And drop all the campaigners that didn’t put 100% effort in.

Totally respect Bucks but I disagree with his proposed solution. We tried flooding under Noble and it was horrific. We simply couldn't score, we couldn't rebound as we had nothing to go to, and the opposition racked up a ridiculous amount of repeat inside 50s.

Can we work the ball a little better now than we did then?

Probably. It'd be slow and torturous though and I'm not sure it'd be good for us given the team seem to default to long down the line, I'd rather minimise that temptation.

But I think Bucks was talking about it with what you say in mind. Bit of keeping off, take the heat out.

He is right that it will impact development. The defensive structure is ****ing cooked, been cooked for years. Its not that hard. It shouldn’t be this bad.

Agree with everything Bucks says here.

No choice but to turn games into dour, low scoring, wars of attrition with big numbers behind the ball. Some supporters won't like it but the players have proven they can't play even numbers or plus 1. They need to fight and scrap - couldn't care less if it's unwatchable for neutrals.
