We are lucky. To celebrate, we get a Thursday night game in the middle of winter and it is against the team who have been allowed to get away with more throws than Mal Maninga, with multiple players who can duck for free kicks and who get away with murder going the other way.

We are lucky. To celebrate, we get a Thursday night game in the middle of winter and it is against the team who have been allowed to get away with more throws than Mal Maninga, with multiple players who can duck for free kicks and who get away with murder going the other way.

I like the only time we got the umpiring rub of the green against them wax 2019 when Brad got walked and it felt the AFL were trying to shift us away from getting an early pick.

We then went on a run of sugar hit wins and drove the pick up into the midrange and solid it for magic beans.

I've ran a few functions like this in my time, it's darn annoying trying to figure out who gets invited, how much should be comp'd etc..

If you start with all living Premiership Players, Life Members, ex board Members, ex coaches and staff that aren't otherwise Life Members, current coterie and VIP's the function can get massive pretty quickly.

Cocktail is way easier to run a function to cater for a large mass of people as well and some punters prefer as you can get around to more people....

I've not been involved in footy but I am a life member of one group and an ex-board member of a couple of others. Life members and premiership players, sure, they should be invited to stuff like this but board members and CEOs? Dunno man, you do your time and then you move on to other things, to get huffy about missing an invite is a bit silly, IMO.

Nope, we were rejected in 1896 and 1907, it wasn't until 1925 we got in. I think it was largely due to the proximity of all the clubs to each other as Melbourne was growing, they wanted to have larger clubs that represented larger portions of the city. Technically, we ceased to exist when we disbanded in an attempt to merge with Essendon but we kind of gloss over that when we count the period before then as part of our club.

It is one of the worst aspects of this club, the number of people who want to harm the club when they do not get their way.

Not to be crass but a formal dining event is a bit awkward just for two tables. Cocktail is much more common, and you can allow ppl to bring their family without having to have a strict RSVP policy.

Cadman has just played one awesome game in 3 years.

Sheezel has played checks notes, arguably elite 2.5 seasons worth to date. Probably even more.

We ain't changing that. We lost JHF and we needed an injection of talent in the middle.

It's well documented that they did. It was part (most?) of the reason that our inclusion in the VFL didn't occur until 1925, the same year as Hawthorn and Footscray. Which is why all three teams are celebrating their centenary this year.

I suppose it comes down to if your goal was to monitorise the event. Personally o hate sit down events re reunions. You end up wasting touch of the evening hearing speches and miss our on catch-up time.

I have checked the mailbox and nothing to report on this front - some might say it is an oversight (although apparently the Hawks and Doggies invited all past CEOs and Presidents to their 100th), however in the 13 years since I finished up at NMFC I have only ever been invited to one official function - the 150th celebration (and probably only because Health pushed for it). That said, I've done my time and I'm quite happy to be among the members - with my boys, sitting in our reserved seats - and waiting for our Roosurgence!
