Graham Cornes used to say that. "We only go out to South Australian listeners" he used to say. I had to inform him that not only were not all South Australians Crows supporters, but his station WAS in fact national. You can pick the station up anywhere in Australia, and you can get a link through the AFL website. 5AA is no less national than any other radio station, or TV networks.

If you deliberately go out of your way to do it.

No disrespect to C Judd, but I reckon I can safely say that there will be slightly less barracking from one commentator ...cough..Bruce..cough.. now that he has hung up the boots.

Cameron Ling is a blight on sports broadcasting, I have never heard a "special comments" man lack so much conviction. He is too busy tip-toeing around with his cutesy comments to have any real impact, how many times have we heard him refer to someone as a superstar? you wouldn't expect too much else from someone who spent the best part of their career as a tagger, admiring other players.

This may seem harsh, but I see shades of similarities between him and the man below.

Wake up Ling, your eyebrows are glowing.

If you think commentators barracking is bad in the AFL you should check out the RL SoO.

Ex NSW and QLD players now in commentary refer to respective teams as "we".
Wally Lewis screams out "Go you good thing" whenever QLD makes a break.

Extraordinary stuff.

I actually enjoy sitting with my mates and cracking jokes about how bad the commentary is, how much some commentators appear to want to copulate with some players etc. we usually get a good laugh.

Unless it's an Eagles game. Then it's all business...

C'mon AH, not even you believe that's a valid argument. That same AFL website gives you a range of radio options, no? So don't click on the 5AA one.

Where's the alternative for unVictorian commentary on a national TV coverage?
