Your thoughts on the current commentators in the country. I think

O-Keefe is hilarious and I love listening when he's on
Warne has good insight but rambles off topic at times and is self-indulgent
Chappell, has fantastic knowledge, although his anecdotes got tiresome 20 years ago
Benaud is missed
Lawry - good value at times although repetitive
I. Healy - I put the T.V on mute when he's on
Slater - slightly more tolerable than Healy. Talks too much and states the obvious
Fleming - good
M. Nicholas - Mr. know it all even though never played a test
Vaughn, Ghilchrist - new, but better than the old ones. Refreshing to hear Vaughan
T. Greig - tolerable
Maxwell, Mithcell - standard
Taylor - good knowledge

The Channel 9 commentators are awful. I think it says a lot when Mark Nicholas and Michael Vaughan are the best of the bunch. Especially considering one is just the host, and the other is a guest who has only had the one session in the box.

FoxSports have it good at the moment though. Brendan Julian, Mark Waugh and Greg Blewett celebrating Klinger's hundred last week was great stuff.

Not playing Test Cricket should not preclude you from commentating, if anything it makes Nicko better as he has no bias towards certain members of the team/coaching staff like Warnie has. Nicholas also played over 700 games and captained a couple of hundred games for Hampshire as well.

What happened to Benaud?

Good to hear Vaughan today, something different for a change. I liked Slater when he was commentating overseas. He does provide good insight when he isn't in the boys club. Still don't mind him, but he isn't as good.

Agnew by far is the most insightful for mine.

Also makes the most sense without stating the obvious or coming across as a tool.

Is Agnew the only Englishmen on ABC? He does play by play and special comments or just play by play? I remember a few years ago there was an Englishmen who only did special comments. Agnew?

Healy, Slater and Warne are all horrific

Even the presence of one of them in the box will override the good commentators like Nicholas, Chappell etc

Vaughan was good today - hopefully we'll get some more of him

Healy is the only Nine commentator I really can't stand, seems to be on all the time and just babbles shit constantly. His bias towards Australia gets on your nerves too, at least the others remain reasonably impartial.

Don't actually mind Nicholas despite the fact he's a Pom and hasn't played test cricket. He's a polished TV performer that usually doesn't let any bias get in the way of calling the game and is reasonably knowledgeable.

Richie is still the doyen of commentators though but I've noticed he's been absent in this test. I guess the long flight over to Perth is getting a bit much at his age, hopefully he will back in readiness for Melbourne and Sydney.

Other than Healy and Slater, Nein's commentary team isn't that bad.

Enjoyed Vaughan's stint on there this evening.

Don't like Healy or Slater, Greig could probably go as well, though I haven't found him as bad this season for some reason.

I think they should reduce the number of commentators though, maybe to six: My team would be

Benaud, Nicholas, Taylor, Lawry, Warne, Commentator for the away team (I would like Bumble Lloyd here though, the guy is awesome) .

I agree that Warne is a bit Self indulgent, but he does lighten up the commentary a little bit, and isn't affraid to criticise poor stategies and general techniques.

I like Llyod too and I think Atherton is good also. Theme here seems to be English commentators > Australian. Don't know how Healy keeps getting a gig.

tony greig looks better because of hte rest of the idiots there.

I miss max its that bad, ABC > Ch9.

Warne's constant grandstanding about spin bowling is starting to shit me and i havent watched a full day of coverage so far this year. Last year he talked up Steve Smith's bowling as much as he could, yet as soon as Beer wasnt picked he whinged about not having a spinner in the side for this match.

Like others i feel like switching over when Healy is on. They need to give him the flick. For a guy I admired so much when he played he is a horrible and embarrasing commentator. His bias rivals that of Sunil Gavaskar and some of of neigbours accross the tasman. I don't mind knowing who the commentators are wanting to win but when it is over the top in your face cheering like heals then it crosses the line IMO.

I couple of said they dont like warnie but I love him as a commentator. He tells it how it is and is happy to talk up the strengths and weakness's of both sides. I has such a great cricket brain and is worth listening to. I also quite like Tubby of the younger commentators. He is a pretty open mind when it comes to looking at all aspects and all sides and its easy to see why he was such a good captain.

Anyone else notice how much Warne repeats himself, some times in the same sentence, when he realises he's made a point that he likes.

When England appealed strongly for Watson being caught behind and then didn't bother going for the video ref, Warne turned into a broken record.

"they've appealed and not gone for the referral which is bizarre because they've appealed and then decided not to go to the third umpire, I mean why appeal so confidently and not go for a referral. I can't understand...they've all appealed and Strauss has not gone for a referral"

Yeah we get it Warney, leave the repetitive blabbering to Ian Chappel.

Healy, Slater and Nicholas have got to go.

Nicholas has wound me up since his debut, much like my hate for the Australian cricket team.... it started off as more "behind the scenes" hatred (due to Channel 9 virtually anointing him as the successor to Benaud as the "main host"). Without giving him much of a chance to ply his trade, didn't feel as though he had earned his way there. Can't stand his barracking for the "local side", there is applauding great play.... then there's the obvious cheerleading for the nation of which the network is broadcasting the coverage :thumbsd:.

Slater and Healy state the bleeding obvious, but also try to put a positive spin on things when they are in a not so positive situation. It's not a bad trait, but it can be very annoying - when it's obviously not going to happen. Slater's latest occurance with Hughes saying that because of his recent bad form, he was due (and he would) get a big score. Obviously he failed both innings, so Slater made an even bigger arse of himself.

Warne would be next on the list to go, he's fine for a cameo one session appearance. Not a very good speaker or storyteller, needs to get serious.

Not a fan of Chappell these days, i'd love for channel 9 to bring Botham in the booth when Chappell is commentating.... just to see the fireworks. Would surely ignite some passion into Chappell's commentary.

Tony Greig has been very bearable this series, wait until the fourth or fifth test and i may want to knock his block off.

Have much respect for Lawry and Benaud!
Mark Taylor is the next best, and should be treated as the #1 when Benaud & Lawry eventually decide it's time to retire.

Oh and bring back Michael Holding!!!!!

Get rid of Greig, Lawry and Chappell. Use by date has been and gone.

Don't like Healy or Slater. Would much prefer Fleming.

Like Taylor and Warne. The overseas guys are always good (except Nicholas).
