Bad Luck for today. Really felt for Ablett, Ling and Selwood. Losing a grand final hurts like hell e.g. 2005, winning a grand final after losing one is pretty sweet e.g. 2006

Having 'been there' in 98 in terms of watching a Premiership disappear between the goal post and point post, let me offer my commiserations too.

Pretty much summed up what I wanted to say perfectly, and not really liking Hawthorn made the match worse.
Bad luck fellas, I genuinely am scared (in a football sense) to see Geelong in 09. And good luck to your mods tonight, they'll need it.
Know how you feel
I know how you feel, my team the Kangas lost the 98 Grand final against Adelaide when we were clearly the best side of the year and lost due to bad kicking and a bad day in the Grand Final. But we won it again the following year and Geelong is still the best, so I think you will win it again. Hawthorn were good on the day but overall you guys would have won 8 games out of 10.

Bad luck guys
I was going for Geelong today (partly because you deserved it, and partly because it'd make my mob the only team to beat you which is also nice
).
I'm sure you have a better idea than me over what went wrong with your team, but it sure was disappointing that you'd go so well for the entire year (minus one game) only to do that in the GF. (Lose I mean, you didn't exactly do a Port Adelaide and embarrass yourself).
On the plus side, at least you have last year, and you're still a powerhouse side heading into next year.
Just think about how bad we at Collingwood felt losing two in a row

I don't think anyone thinks the Cats time has come and gone I think Geelong and now most likely Hawthorn will be powerhouses for years to come. Could get a GF rematch next year in fact. (Obviously I hope not )

Bad luck guys, you have been the benchmark team for two seasons, and deserved the premiership. However, its all about one day, and the Hawks were too good yesterday. However, the Geelong window has far from disappeared and as the previous poster stated, very good chance of a GF rematch next season, and this loss may only make your team a better one. Great football teams just don't disappear after one loss, and make no mistake, although beaten by the better team yesterday, Geelong is a great foorball team and one all you supporters, are, and should be very proud of. And if he wasn't already a champion, Gary Ablett was sublime yesterday, and anyone doubting his champion status, could not be left doubting it any longer.

I think we witnessed the end of an era today.....we will struggle to make top 4 next season.
As i have said previously tho...all i ever wanted was one flag in my lifetime and we got it....so i love this team regardless of what happens from here on in.

Bad luck guys! Clearly the team of the year except for that one day. Always thought we could do it but it was going to take a hell of a gutsy effort. You're not going to take much solace from this but bad luck...footy can be cruel sometimes. Good luck in '09.

To all Geelong supporters,
Comiserations about yesterday, pretty unlucky there really, on any other day you'd likely have us but I just wanted to say that the way Geelong supporters rallied behind the game as a spectacle and remained in the stadium during presentations etc was a great credit to your club.
You still remain the benchmark and are a template for success for other clubs both within the league and outside it to model themselves on.
We look forward to further games against each other.
