Bad luck guys, was really hoping for a back to back.

You all should be proud of the cats, absolutely stellar season and if anything I am sure this will make your boys go even harder next year!

Great season, great squad :thumbsu:

thanks

what do we do now?

You think that the season was still a pretty amazing one.

You think you still made the finals.

You think you still made the grand final.

You think that your premiership window is certainly not closed yet.

You think about next year :thumbsu:

I know this all sounds silly coming from a tigers fan... I mean what do I know really. But I do know how getting so close and just pulling up short feels, the difference is the Cats are an established, silky team and we are still struggling for finals.

I would do anything to see the Tigers play with as such skill, class and success as what Geelong do.

Things look bad now, absolutely, but you all got to see a brilliant season of football from your boys, there will be another shot next year

Respect!

Geelong earned my respect today. Awesome game!

It's a shame there has to be a loser, you guys would of been worthy winners!

Stuff the bad luck, great year crap.

The game was there to be won, and crap execution cost us. If the forwards had kicked straight, particularly from set shots, and Ottens had some awareness, we should have been 5-6 goals up at half time, with the opportunity to ice it in the third quarter.

Instead, we keep Hawthorn in it and made terrible decisions in the third quarter to hand them goals on a platter.

At the start of the game, if you'd told me Buddy, Roughy and Mitchell would all have minimal impact, and they'd lose Croad early, you wouldn't give them a chance.

We had poor defensive pressure by the forwards in the first half, and poor disposal by them also. Unfortunately, Wojo missed out for a couple of passengers.

Suck it up and come back harder next year, at least have a look at how much it meant to Gazza.

Re: Respect!

I SOOOOO want to troll you. I really, really do. There were quite a few Geelong trolls on our board through the last 4 weeks, and it has felt pretty ungracious. But, well (apart from the tiny-troll that we've now won more silverware in 2008 than you... we won the pre-season comp - a weak dig that you brush off like Ablett does a tackle), I'm not going to.

Bad luck. In a lot of ways, I think you guys feel a bit like we did in 1997 - minor premiers, favorites, and then, "whathe?" on the GF. That feeling really sucks. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, and I won't relish it on you. All you can do is remember that you've already got one in the bag from last year, that you still ARE the benchmark, despite the Hawks having what all of us know was a lucky day. And that next year beckons. Everything that Sam Mitchell and Clarky said was true - you are the team we all look up to and wish we could be.

The player I feel most for, is Blake. Just plain sucks. To have missed out last year, and then to lose this year. I hope this isn't his last chance, and that over the next couple of years, maybe we'll play each other in a few GFs, and you guys might win another, and we'll win a couple.

Re: Respect!

Bad luck you blokes!
Was a great game. As said, was there to be won, and Hawks just took their chances when it counted most.
Premiership quarter was when it was won.
You guys are still a brilliant side. GL next year :)

Bad luck guys. I didn't know who to go for today but I started barracking for Geelong after some dirty sniping from Hawthorn. I thought Ablett was a true sportman after the game. Really nice to see.

I remember way back in '82 when we lost to Carlton after expecting to win. It hurt like hell. Unfortunately for us we haven't recovered!! Something awful happened to the Tigers after that GF, lost lots of players, a horrible time.

Hopefully you will recover quickly and play sensationally again next year, (not against Richmond though, LOL).

Grand Finals are funny like that, the pressure and emotion often results in upsets.

We beat the stuffing out of these Hawthorn c***s next September.

That's the only thing that will redeem today.

That's the spirit.

No value to you now but congrats on one of the greatest AFL seasons ever and I have no doubt you will be back to challenge for No 1 next season.

You guys have the talent but mentally some of your guys were way off today. Hopefully that will provide the motivation for them next year.

One thing for certain, G Ablett is an absolute star and luckily for you Geelong through and through. He has a huge heart. Phenomenal.:thumbsu:

Bad luck guys. Best side all year, but Hawthorn had you well and truly beaten on the day. No reason you can't come back and win the flag next season. History is littered with teams that use Grand Final losses as motivation. Geelong don't have any immediate retirees, so I am sure that they will bounce back and hold the 2009 flag aloft.

I think KEG44 was the main culprit
