That isn't what I'm suggesting at all, go back and read my post properly.

I'm saying as a collective they need to accept that they have been crap at x, y, z and commit to changing those things rather than constantly trotting out the "we are doing our best, trying, working hard" line.
I've got no doubt they are trying hard, but that gives me little confidence if they are working hard on the wrong things..! At the end of the day every club is working hard, it doesn't even need saying.

Where did I suggest that they start potting each other.

i just dont think we should underestimate how the players/coaches/administrators are feeling, and how hard they are working.

I constantly hear how the players and coaches look at video of their games, highlight pro's and con's and seek to rectify them throughout the week. We are middle road in age (v comp) and lower in games played (both even lower when you take out the two franchises and add in the amount of additions we have made throughout this season) so those changes wont happen as quickly as teams like Geelong where they have many a-graders who have played in consistently winning teams and have been able to nurture that culture over a long period of time. and a lot of them are natural coaches.

Poor onfield resu
he has to be measured in the media, it's the nature of the beast. look at the furore when he named ellis and conca.
there has to be a balance, he's not going to flog them week in week out or he'll lose them completely.

i agree that this season is a train wreck, but slamming the players, saying the season is over or constant hard line negativety will adversely affect the club, players and disenfranchise fans.

internal communication would be a different story.
Poor onfield results will do all this any smart businessman will know this
This is why Benny came up with the white flag spin
I'm sorry what happens behind close doors CAN be also a reflection of what's happening on the field
Please think about this before going into a DH frantic fit

If Madonna gets dropped for the Geelong game, then there needs to be some hard questions asked of the club. Teaching them is not dropping them. I've singled out Madonna because Lids and Rance are coming back, and the passengers need to go and not the kids.

The gameplan is too defensive. No use in preventing the opposition from scoring if our mindset is not TO score. I'd like the mindset against Geelong to simply take every scoring opportunity and make it happen. No chip sideways crap until it is needed. They get a run on, then chip sideways and deny the ball. But the mindset must be to attack, take risks and back each other. If this instruction is not followed, drop players. i don't want to hear excuses at the press conferences. The message is always the same.

I don't care if other teams have "worked out" how we play. We simply need to focus on our strengths, and start to worry sides like we did last year.

Why can't we work out how other sides play? Is that too much to ask?

I've wondered the same. Collingwood smash the Swans up here almost every time they play. We haven't won up here in a few days off a decade. Collingwood have provided a great template on how to do it. We, on the other hand, play the same ridiculous, ineffective brand of football every time we come up.

Here's how you do it. Set up a zone defence. Position your gun players a kick away. Swans won't want to kick it there. Swans players have nowhere to kick it to. Swans players start to look bamboozled and slow and turn it over. Game over.

So are you saying that horse cant coach for shit because he cant beat the pies? The point being is, while clubs know what they have to do, actually doing it is completely different.

What I have leant from this thread: The importance of wasting footy department money on a media manager who will vet and put the correct 'spin' on any club communications.

I'm not defending his coaching, but Dimma won't do a better job if he has to spend a few hours tutored on how to sell this weeks loss to the faithful in a new way.

Correct , the lost sheep look is not working for him.

No, not at all. I'm saying that we don't have to lose to the Swans up here by 10 goals every year. I'm suggesting we can learn something from the tactics that other teams use against the Swans - ie. set up a zone defence and put the ball carrier under pressure. We don't do this. We just let the Swans flood our forwardline and stand around with our hands in our shorts while the Swans take it from one end of the ground to the other.

So the question is, is the coaching staff giving direction to the players on how to beat them and it wont work or are they doing so, but the players just cant sustain the plan? Is it we are just not good enough on the small grounds? Or are we good enough? Chicken or the egg. I personally think the SCG doesn't suit us, so it will be interesting when we play them at Stadium Australia.

This small ground excuse is weak as piss. The problem is our lack of defensive effort.

Oh no doubt, this is definitely an issue. But I think our game plan relies on space, because we cant close games down. Until we can play down and dirty this will happen. However we do play well against the swans on larger grounds, so again the question is why cant the swans counter us on our home ground? My point is, teams do some how find it difficult against some teams sometimes at certain grounds, but doesn't mean they cant coach or have successful seasons.

Dimma says a lot of things but not much mounts to anything, I call it pillow talk.
Sorry everyone I call it spin and it needs to stop
We have far too many media stars I want our players to be like the cats only seen holding the cup up in the air
Not feeding dribble to us It should be mandatory for our to concentrate on their football not their futures after football. They are paid to perform on the field

All the press conferences are in one ear and out the other for me. They are a waste of time.

You're a genius. Somebody start a petition to make aislegi head coach.

Hear one, hear them all.

I particularly dislike the repetitive regurgitation of statistic and numbers. This is the fluff I can't stand. All the numbers are the indicative of what happened, but never address "why" it happened. When a player misses a target within 35 meters. When a player instinctively looks to go sideways or chip to a player behind them so the "stat" does not count against them is the problem. There's no stat for lazy players who have no interest in screaming for the ball at kick ins. No one wants responsibility. No one wants to be the "clanger" stat. Chip sideways so that DE = 80% and then it looks good on the stat sheet. All it means is the player didn't have the courage to back his ability to kick the ball, and have confidence his intended target will give 100% effort in marking that ball. Only once did I see this last week - and it was Madonna.

We had a higher DE% at one point during Sunday than collingwood in their dismantling of essendon. May have even ended up higher. Such a meaningless stat.
