I really hope I'm wrong but I can see this show jumping the shark big time this season.

For the record, there was an episode of Happy Days where a guy literally jumped over a shark - and it was the BEST one!

Henry Winkler did it twice. The second time more subtle.

Personally, I can't wait for everyone to start claiming that the show sucks just because Harmon left. Apparently, Britta being turned into nothing but an easy punchline who occasionally produces the odd slapstick laugh, Abed becoming kind of a dick, the Dean becoming more and more ridiculous, and there being a whole arc involving Chang overtaking the school with help from an army of ****ing twelve year olds is fine, but NOW the show is gonna turn to shit. Sure...

That's the point I'm making. Last season just about went off the rails when Harmon was in charge and now that he's gone I worry that the new team will just continue on with that sort of humour as if it was the best part of the show. All the promos I've seen just seem to re-enforce that view.

They would be better off taking a step back to what they were doing in seasons one and two.

For me, and I seem to be in the minority, the show did during the third season.

It went from a quirky show that anyone could follow, to a strange show aimed at a particular audience, with far too many self-references and far fetched storylines.

I totally agree with this. S3 had a lot less genuinely hilarious episodes and a lot more Harmon self-indulgence. It's like he could see his ship going down and instead of trying to save it, he steered it harder into the iceberg.

Also agree with Mr Cranium that regardless of how good Season 4 is, there'll still be an army of people whinging how crap it is without Harmon.

I think I'm 5 or so episodes into the first season. It's enjoyable and gets laughs from me but feels a little stilted or lacking something.

If I keep at it will I soon be slapping my thighs?
Yes. I think a lot of people say it really kicks into gear after the Halloween episode (episode 7?).

Ive seen all episodes a few times.

It starts out slow, but then slowly gets more clever and absurd. Then bam. You will piss your pants several times an episode.

I think the bam moment was Batman.

It peaks around the middle of season 2. Season 3 is far too abstract and absurd. It's not even Community at that point. It's just, "What can we parody this week?"

Middle of season 2 is when I stopped watching. Right after the Dinner with Andre/Pulp Fiction episode. Got a bit too wacky for me after that (even though obviously had wacky, outlandish episodes in season 1)

I just sub to this thread to make sure I keep up to date with any new Alison Brie pics and gifs :p

I loved season three, you guys are crazy. All hail Campus Security Officer Chang, #anniesmove, Law & Order, Evil Abed...so much win.

Agreed 'Intro to Statistics' was the episode that got everything rolling. There was also shades of it in episode five 'Advanced Criminal Law'.
