Dale Thomas = James Hird.
A little shorter but quicker version of Jimmy (forgive me father for I have sinned....I love Hird). Quick thinking and plays with natural flair. Neither are silky smooth in open spaces (Jimmy is better snapping a goal than drilling a set shot from 35m) but will find targets in tight or when reacting under pressure. DT has displayed in short quantities to be a game winner either up forward, in the middle or helping out in the back half - Jimmy may be the greatest ever at this. Both seem to sum up a situation quicker than others on the field.
Scott Pendlebury = Nick Dal Santo/David Rhys-Jones
May seem odd to mention DRJ who is best known for biffing blokes but people forget the grace he had and the seemingly endless time he had to dispose of the footy. Pendlebury's hip movement when tackled is similar to Robert Harvey who I am sure has passed on this talent to Dal Santo. Every time a tackle is laid, they have the ability to shimmy out of trouble and take their time to deliver a skillful handpass or kick. Field kicking is similar to that of Dal Santo.....although Pendles seems to be showing a knack for getting the ball in dangerous places which may see him overtake Dal Santo who doesn't kick enough goals for me to be a true champion of the game (although he is very close).
Heath Shaw = Andrew Mackay
I hear a few comparisons to Andrew McLeod and Bucks.....I see Heath as a defender first with running ability and skill off half back. He gets the ball in similar numbers to that of Bucks and McLeod, but he seems to relish the job of stopping his opponent, reading the play and helping team mates in contests and seems to have no regard for personal safety. For this reason he reminds me of one of the few Carlton players I admired in Andrew Mackay.
