I'm thinking something fairly similar to Bock

Crows football operations general manager Phil Harper said the club was disappointed with the AFL’s decision.
“We believe that if Nathan was available on the open market he would certainly attract much more than a first round draft pick from another club,” Harper said.
“He was an All-Australian two years ago when he also won our club champion award , is only 27 and if he was still on our list right now he would be rated right near the top. We believe that compensation for a player of Nathan’s ilk would a minimum of band two, which equates to the same in 2010 and 2011 but would be after our first round pick in any of the next three drafts.

Could somebody please explain to me exactly what "end" of first round actually means, bearing in mind GC are going to get all these "priority" picks and also bearing in mind that this year's spooners (WCE) aren't even getting into the frame until pick ....umm.....pick 6 is it?
And our first pick (according to the natural order of things) wiil in fact be pick 12....is that right?
Trying to work out what the "end" of round one is going to be is doing my head in.
Moreover,if the Crows (as unhappy as they already are) get an "end" of first round pick for Bock and (say) we also get an "end" of first round pick for Riska and/or Brennan, how the bloody hell is that going to work?
I mean, end means END doesn't
How can two or more clubs all have an "end" of round anything pick?
I'm really confused![]()
The selection for Nathan Bock may be activated by the Adelaide Crows at the end of round one in any one of the 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 or 2014 NAB AFL Draft selection meetings.
The selection will be immediately placed after the selection of the premiership team of that season (which concludes round one), and any compensation pick under AFL Rule 6 (In 2010, West Coast will receive a selection under this rule).
In the case of two or more clubs activating an end of round one selection in the one AFL Draft meeting, the club(s) that is (are) placed lower on the premiership ladder in that particular season will be placed first in the selection order.
The "saving up" of the pick to later years has still got me a bit confused but I get the general drift
Totally agree Quigs - the band selection is heavily weighted on the salary the GC offer eg would you offer Bock a 27 year old with a solid form past B&F etc yet questionable current injury concerns more than a 24 year old, currently in career best form, 22 2010 games and a 2010 B&F?The whole concept of future earnings that the AFL are talking about should help push our pick up especially if he is this year's B&F. Bock is injury prone and declining whilst it could be argued that Rischitelli is on his way up and his future earnings will be higher being only 24. Personally I am thinking he is between a band 2 and band 3 and hopefully the AFL will slot him into a band 2 because they seem to be screwing us with everything else in this whole thing.
Anyone know what band 2 compensation is?

The Brisbane Lions were formally notified today of the compensation national draft selection it would receive in return for having had an uncontracted player elect to join the newly-formed Gold Coast Football Club.
Under the List Establishment Rules for the Gold Coast Football Club, the AFL's 17th team has the right to select one uncontracted player from each of the current 16 AFL clubs, with a compensation package to be determined in one of five bands, based on the new contract offer to the player and his future earning / playing capacity.
It had been determined that the Brisbane Lions would receive an end of Round One selection for Michael Rischitelli.
Band 3? compensation may as well be a used band-aid
Appeal!
What, why, what pick range is this???
It sucks, but we only got Band 3 for an AA Key Position Player. So you can't feel too hard done by.
End of first round pick to be nominated for use in any of the next 5 drafts. Whether or not the club has to actually nominate to use it before the season starts or after, I'm not sure. Obviously using it this year or the year after isn't the best idea.
The short answer is, you'll get pick 19 for him at best. I say at best because there is no guarantee another club wont use a compensation pick in the same year and I have no idea how they work out who picks first in this case.
