Mod. Notice Competitions: READ BEFORE POSTING A COMPETITION

No, you don't understand.

The way I think it should be run:
- Each person submits 3 kits and a logo all in the one image
- If there are 16 entries, the person running the competition will only have to save 16 images and upload 16 images per round.
- Less strain on the person running the comp, and easier to set up the poll threads for each round

The way I think it shout NOT be run:
- Each person submits 3 kits and 1 logo in separate images
- If there are 16 entries, the person running the competition will have to save 64 images and upload 32 images per round.
- Much more strain on the person running the comp, more complex to set up the poll threads for each round.

Yes, everyone gets their own team.

I'll be doing it the second way but I won't be uploading the logos each round as I don't want them to influence peoples votes.

I can do it that way if you guys reaallly want.

All logos should be part of the entries; i.e. 3 jumpers and a logo in one image.

This. Logos are a good way for unrestricted creativity to flow. It's a huge part of a team's identity and to exclude it would severely undermine the quality and integrity of the NAFL.

Logos will be in the NAFL headquarters thread, I don't want logos to influence peoples votes, I want people to focus on just the jumpers each round.

You make the decision and I respect that, but I disagree with every inch of my body. When you think of any team in the AFL, say, Collingwood, you don't just think of their black and white stripes, you also think of their logo. It's who they are. It's part of their identity. Not allowing logos to be voted upon is severely restricting the talent we have on this board.

Well how about we have a poll at the end of the season where you vote on the overall brand?

I think the way I have it now will make people enter better designs (or at least put more effort into them instead of just the home/away) as you will be judge on all your individual jumpers; you enter a boring clash and you'll likely lose against someone who put a lot of effort into their home.

Will consider it (and listen to what others think) but I definitely won't be doing all the jumpers in one image like the original NAFL. It'll either be jumper vs jumper or jumper+logo vs jumper+logo

Has to be Jumper vs Jumper.

Voting on logos though a decent addition, handicaps those who are not using a program like photoshop or illustrator (as can be seen in the design the logo thread there is a massive gap between what is possible in each of the programs, guernseys can be made to look great in paint, but logos have issues and that will hurt those designers).

I think logos can appear on the entries (in what ever form the designer wants, be it on the guernseys, beside them, or as an image behind the guernseys), but they should not be voted on.

Pretty much agree with everything you said, Craegus.

Jumpers can be made to look really nice (see smeagle, scottfreo) but logos seem to always have that rough look to them. I just feel that people will take the logo into consideration when voting when we're supposed to be voting on jumper vs jumper.

I can understand wanting to have a jumper based competition with jumpers being the central focus of them, but, craegus, to argue against logos on the basis of Paint not as easily having clean designs is just plain ludicrous and poor logic. What program you use shouldn't stunt or limit creativity.

I agree that it shouldn't limit creativity, but the gap between how logo designs look when created in different programs is too large and it could hurt peoples chances of winning just because they cannot create a logo that is as clean as others. People can get away with guernseys, logos are not as forgiving.

But then won't their guernseys be hurting their chances as well?

Then when we make two divisions/conferences, have a Paint one and have a PhotoShop/Illustrator one. Problem solved.

But then they get jumbled up in finals again. Problem not solved.

Photoshop and Illustrator have their differences

Unless, we use the American system. This means only the best Paint and the best PhotoShop/Illustrator design play off against each other.

Unless there are also interdivisional games (which could get a bit confusing to fixture)

E92_, a compromise.
How about, for one special round, we have logo v logo?

I dunno, I wouldn't want someone to miss out on finals because they're logo wasn't as clean/polished because of the program they used, unless you're talking about a round for no points?
