Mod. Notice Competitions: READ BEFORE POSTING A COMPETITION

The only change I would make is probably use the full new PL logo (cannot be recoloured), or just the lions head (which could be recoloured to fit designs).
Those are both possibilities, but I would like the logo to look good on any coloured guernsey, so I could make a suitable modification.

What template is that?
Akkaps template.

Off topic, but one of the reasons why I've been less active in competitions and designing in general is that my desktop computer, which is where I have Photoshop, is pretty much dead and labours to open Google Chrome.

Anyway, I just worked out that I can use Photoshop on my laptop through uni using Citrix Receiver. I swear that before this year, I could only use that to access my uni desktop, which did have a lot of programs in it but I doubt they'd have given me Photoshop, or that it would be able to open without crashing. But now I have the full Adobe CC suite, and its actually pretty quick.

I'm back.

I just don't get it. Where is the creativity? Will people not be voting almost entirely for the existing team rather than the design?
I think that's just an example, a little more effort would need to go into designing a pattern.

For example, I had this planed for my Man Utd, Away kit

It's taken from this design from the 1970s

The example I posted was an extremely basic example, with the purpose of it being to demonstrate where logos and sponsors would be placed. I would hope that people would be creative and put more effort into their designs, unlike the quick 5 minute job I did in that example.

No, not at all. The whole point of the competition would be to create something that would fit within the identity of the club you are designing for, but make it something that has not been done before. Plus as everyone would have to convert the team onto an AFL template some design elements that work on football kits have to be adapted for the lack of sleeves.

For my Arsenal designs (they are probably 90% complete, but I am constantly modifying them), I have kept the home somewhat similar to what they have worn recently, but have made changes because I cannot use very much white on the sleeves which gave me the challenge of making a design that fits the traditional Arsenal home design while not being able to use the sleeves to display white. The away is a modification of one of my favourite all time Arsenal away kits, but the modification makes it something that the football club have not worn before (but could be considered a distant relative to another design). The 3rd is reminiscent of another older design in its colours, but the design is completely new (or old when looking at some of the added elements).

I think the competition is a fantastic way for all levels of designer to try and work within the constraints of club heritage, while also being able to show off their design skills (kind of like the AKOTW competition, but this time in a full club design sense and in a league style competition which will show the longevity of each design), which is something that we really have not had recently on here.

Anyone else who hasn't like the OP interested in it? 20 teams is pretty ambitious.

If people are keen and numbers are needed, I'm happy to participate. But only if I can have Liverpool

So sjohnson can start his thread?
Suss out the OP in this thread.
Sj hasn't run a league comp (or a comp, period, AFAIK) so I'd like this to gauge as much interest as it possibly will before getting it rolling. There's been a few league comps that have bombed recently.

The Australian Rules Premier League (ARPL)
Anyone who wishes to enter chooses/bids for a team in the English Premier League (as of next season), and designs a home, away and alternate strip. No finals, the team on top of the ladder after every round is completed wins the ARPL. If there is enough interest, there could be a championship/2nd tier in which the top three at the end of the season get promoted to the premier league, and the bottom three in the premier league get relegated to the 2nd tier.
IMO this would be better off restructured into a revival of the tri-cup, which I have been thinking about, recently.

Doing it this way would ensure no one can just enter a club's current kit on a footy template, which WILL happen. We'd need a third sport, though.

What do you reckon sjohnson

This'd be cool. Expanding a brand across several sports ala what Barca and Bayern have.
