Mod. Notice Competitions: READ BEFORE POSTING A COMPETITION

Just comps, but it's still worth posting workshop ideas as there many workshops out there that may be similar to another's idea.
So I could post my Flags Workshop as it isn't a competition at all...

Also, why not have two threads. One for comp ideas (this one) and one for workshop proposals?

Don't quote me on it, but I suppose you could. However, I think I can recall an Australian flag workshop from a while back? Just hold off for the moment until you get the green light.

I reckon the one thread may be better, because some comp ideas get knocked back into a workshop in this thread anyway. But yes, it could possibly make it much more neater.

What happens if somebody gets banned while in a comp? Do you need to include their design or disclude
Thoughts?

Don't include.

Temporary ban from another board = Include as the ban does not affect us or the persons posts on here.

Temporary ban from this board = Include if ban is from something silly, Exclude if ban is from something more serious.

Permanent ban = Exclude. They are gone, so are their entries.

Perhaps admin could tells their bans so we could make the comps a lot easier

Uhh so craegus told me to post here for my competition. I started a compeition thread about a Queensland State of Origin jumper. Don't really know what I have to do to get it ticked off but I thought it was an interesting one.

Saw that thread, I would have loved to participated in that comp

I think the idea could be expanded to include all states, but there's already a workshop on SoO designs, so is a comp really needed?

Well I guess Queensland (and NSW) are in a unique situation given there are already SoO jumpers in the NRL and you could work with those designs to create your own. I mean I've looked at that thread and I don't think there is enough designs for Queensland. Just my opinion.

Would anyone be interested in a sort of re-designish comp, like in soccer how majority of the team change all their jerseys each year. Do this for AFL teams, whole new set of jumpers that can be traditional but slightly different to the current or a completely bold new design.

I like the idea, but you need something that separates the idea from the rest. All I am reading is a design comp for current AFL teams.

Thats basically what it is, doesn't have to be AFL only though. It would be nice to get a weekly competition solely based around AFL jumper designs (at the beginning) back on this board. When all the teams have been completed then there could be season two, a brand new set once again.

Just an idea.i just would like a basic AFL jumper design comp ran on a weekly basis. Not one where you design one set of jumper then look at polls for weeks.

Then why not a workshop? Each week is a different theme (different club etc.)

I think we fret a bit too much over what comps we have and how many are going at once.

As long as whoever is running the comp puts the time and effort in to drive it, it will succeed if it's interesting.

I also agree with Cat Attack that quick turnover comps are best. Get people designing regularly, and if there isn't enough time for everyone to enter every round, who cares?

I'm going to try to be pretty strict with the 10 days for entries and 4 days for voting limits with LogoOTW this time around. It will be a better competition for it.

How about this:
In comps that involve the winner picking the next team. Have two comps going at once. As an example: comp A goes for 7 days followed by poll A and comp B in the next week. And comp A and poll B in the following week and do on. This way, we are not stranded waiting for the poll to finish and the winner to pick.

Thought?

That's what 4321 and I are trying to do with our comps. Just takes a bit to get it all in sync...
