Mod. Notice Competitions: READ BEFORE POSTING A COMPETITION

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

I would like to propose A weekly competition where their will be a chosen soccer team and your job is to recreate a kit for them whether its a home, away, third, promotional, heritage. whatever kit you want it to be, it will be open for a week then will go to a poll for a week, winner chooses next team

pretty simple competition which i feel would be quite popular

rules
must include shirt, shorts and socks are optional
sponsors are recommended but not compulsory
must include team logo on presentation (can be edited not fussed tbh)
1 entry per person
league logos required

I really feel i can run a competition and run it well, would really love to do this thanks :)
Should have more entries per person. If it's just one then you'll have less entries. KOTW let you have 3 or 4 entries. I reckon 3 is max especially considering you can only have one kit per entry.

Socks and shorts are vital for a soccer kit.

The difference in look between Man U and Liverpool is enormous, despite both clubs wearing solid red shirts.
Most templates don't have socks, and especially soccer ones on this site.

probs best to include them
No, they are a pain and will stop people from entering. I don't see why you have to make people do extra work just for some "socks".

Stop people? There's probably only two people who get annoyed over socks and you're clearly one of them. Until the day players are allowed to wear whatever socks they want in their games, they are still part of the uniform. Therefore, when designing a soccer (or AFL, or whatever sport that requires them) they should be included in the entry

Why? Who cares? The only thing I'm doing by including socks (which none of my soccer templates have) is satisfying certain peoples OCD. Why do people care so much about if my entry includes socks or not?

So let people enter without a full template, it will just make their kits incomplete and they will be at a disadvantage.

Well here is an interesting* bit of information.

Before I came to this board I began my designing on soccer kit design boards, and competed in many KOTW competitions on them. During practically all of them there were no shorts and socks in the designs (I believe only 2 of the templates I have have shorts and at least part of the socks and those templates were overtaken by ones with out them). Look at most soccer discussions and the talk is always about the shirts, the shorts and socks are just not really the most important thing and this transfers to designing the kits.

*May not actually be interesting.

Because the shorts and socks aren't expected to change significantly design wise. They're still a vital part of an entire kit though, especially in soccer.

Yes they are vital but for the reason that they basically remain the same is probably why they would not be needed. I get we use shorts and socks for AFL designs, but that has been something that has been adopted by this board for those templates. For a soccer design comp I would use the internet standard that does not include them.

--------

With that being said Codym2723, I would suggest that you make the design required more specific, e.g. a new home kit for X or a charity kit for Y, rather than just any kit for Z. This way it restricts the designer to a more specific design and allows for clubs to be repeated several times if people want them, plus it makes the voter have to decide who met the requirements the best rather then just who can come up with a good kit for that team.

From my previous experience apart from just design a new kit for a club there were also ones that covered specific holidays (e.g. Halloween and Christmas), memorial kits, anniversaries, kits that linked clubs to new release movies and then international kits for the Olympics, or world cup/regional competitions.

I get a simple pick a team and design anything is simple and easy, but we are a design community and I am certain people would prefer a bit of an added challenge to just design anything for this team.

---------

p.s. so long as it is just shirts required (shorts and socks optional. It is not a laziness thing, it is just my favourite soccer template is shirt only and I would prefer to use it if I enter) then I will give it a like.

ok well, i will make the kits be home one week, charity or themed another week, therefore the same team runs for about 3 weeks and ill ease the rules so shorts and socks are optional

Same team for 3 weeks will get old too quick, if you take my suggestion, it will still be winner picks the next team, but they can also add the stipulation/kit required, so perhaps the same team may get picked, but the chances of it happening will be slim with the massive number of teams that can be selected.

1 team per week it is then
