Conca and Vicks

Jackson is the one I'm interested in. Decision making and ball movement in the midfield is very slick without him. All our best wins vs Adelaide, WC, Ess were without him and he was injured vs Port. Backing up my thoughts for a long time he needs to be moved on.

Not sure why people are still either or with BG &TV . IF they come on with Jack in the same team ? Well its the 1812 overture baby ( classical music + fireworks ) for RFC.....

I know jack got doubled teamed a few times but seriously he was awol most of the night, I thought he was very ordinary and he has played well in the wet before so that shouldn't have bothered him.
Talia is a star.

And yet Vickery kicked 2 against West Coast in conditions that were 10x as bad as last night and probably would have kicked more if he didn't go completely into his shell after knocking a bloke out

You can talk up Griffiths all you like, he played a good game, but he still doesn't kick as many goals as Vickery. If they're aiming for the same position then Vickery wins hands down, if we're playing 3 talls, Jack and Vickery in the forward 50 and Griffiths CHF then they all get to play, rotating Vickery/Maric/Griffiths through the ruck/forward/defense as needed.
Disagree Griffiths last 2 games are better than anything Ty has dished up this year. Sure he may have kicked 1 goal instead of the 2 but without the contests he wins up around the wings then we don't get a heap of other goals including the 2 match winning goals last night.

I think they both have differing skill sets, and hopefully we can exploit both to our better gain. The question is do our smalls in the fwd line swarm enough on the loose ball, for to keep the ball in our fwd line? If we can then the 3 talls will work.

Which is why it's unfair to compare them on goals. One cherry picks 15m from goal and the other plays up on the wings. That's their roles and it's impossible to compare on one stat.

What has been clear over the last 2 weeks is Griff is giving us a bail out option and linking our backline and forward line up nicely.

For those who want to play 3 talls what do we get rid of?

1. A hard running half forward like Gordon?
2. A Petterd who offers elite defensive pressure to keep the ball in?
3. A midfielder meaning we have one less midfield rotation and probably don't have the luxury of playing dusty, lids and cotch up forward.

I do believe tho, Griff does spend enough time in the fwd 50 to have a more impact, so he needs to get better at that.

Don't get me wrong, the role Griff plays is very good, but that's why I think it's silly when people suggest that Vickery won't be back because Griffiths is playing well. Griff's role last night was perfect, but that role gives very little support to Jack. Playing Vickery gives that support. We need to get the 3 tall forward structure working.

64,000 dollar question.

Had 3 shots. Just needs to have more confidence in his kicking. I think he'll improve in that area. I like that he's pulling the trigger from long range. He should have straightened up on that snap.

See above. Who do you take out? I'd suggest a Gordon type. But his running has been handy. Petterd has to stay for his pressure if we play 3 big fellas.

Actually I wouldn't cry if we dropped jack and put in Mcbean, jack is so out form it's not funny.
Did anyone notice that Jack got Griff's booming kick down to Pettard who got it to Gordon to put us in front...that's what Jack is, team player...

It's what I've liked in the winning streak. Even the players who are having dirty days are having an impact on the result.

Lennon, Grimes or Batch. Give them a rest. We still need to fit Conca in. I'm actually really liking Gordon forward, gives us an Ellis type in our forward half. Will only get better with more games. Lennon will probably be the scapegoat for structural reasons but you could potentially drop Grigg as well.

Obviously we're talking more about our team against Sydney but this was our team against St Kilda last time:

Changes from last night:
In: Griffiths, Lennon, Gordon
Out: Vickery, Dea, Conca

Id nearly drop newman.

I think Lennon is just minding Conca's spot. That's an obvious change. Batch is the other one I forgot. I do like his aggression but he doesn't actually do much other than hit hard.

So would I (15 weeks ago. :p) Just not going to happen it seems. DrMike is right though. Batch is a possibility.
Newman won't be dropped for his 250th, might be sub.

I'd still be using the St Kilda game to set up structurally for the Sydney game.

Seriously need to rest some players after that match...
maybe Foley as sub...and bring in helbig and llyod...
rest Ivan and bring in the bigo
Freo rested players against the Saints. Worked out brilliantly.

Both of them , can **** off ,their decision was a very clear sign they put themselves above the team .

Yeah I was furious with Conca last night. He would have revelled in last nights conditions and had we lost marginally then it would have been amatuer hour to lose a player to such a dumb act.

Vickery gives Sydney something to think about but I do agree with the big downside if he doesnt fire.
