which of these youngsters do you think will end up the best?
There was a chain reaction, because Essendon were ready to take Atley, but Richmond threw a curve ball by picking Conca, which had Heppell fall to the Bombers and Atley fell to North Melbourne. This will be very interesting for many years to come.

None have played a game, unless people closely follow juniors (which 99% don't) then they will just flogishly vote for their team or against the one they hate the most. Useless poll really.

i can comment on atley vs heppel because i've been following the tac cup the last 2 years but i haven't seen conca besides the under 18 champs so i can't comment too much on him.

But from what i have seen heppell has the best skills atm, atley is the quickest, atley has the best endurance, conca and atley have more leadership skills than heppell.
Atley is the far better athlete who captained bushrangers and vic country, ais graduate and i was so shocked he slipped to us.
having said that it all depends on how they play in the AFL

Close thread and revisit when they've atleast played some senior footy (and even then we still won't know for another few years atleast).

Can a coin have three sides?

I'd take a stab at Conca being the better player, but none have played a game yet as others have said, and all three of them could turn out to be Chris Egan or Mitch Thorp.

Yep.

Very happy with Heppell from what I was reading all year, before he was even thought of as in contention for our pick.
Just as sure North & Tigs are as happy with theirs.
From the chain reaction that occured, it's obvious that they were - along with Polec - pretty evenly rated at that point.

Will be interesting.

Dyson Heppell will be the best of them if he can get and stay healthy.

Atley is the one most likely to have a long-term AFL career based on Heppell's injury prone status and the fact that Conca is at Richmond (though he might turn into a good player at Port Adelaide).

Harsh. I know you know this but it needs saying this anyway: both Richmond's major drafting stuffups in Tambling and Oakley-Nicholls were risks, flashy players who Richmond picked to complement a pacy expansive game. Both were errors but at least Tambling had some for of career which the likes of Thorp cannot claim. Why the Tambling/Franklin decision jars more in the mind of the footy public than the Thorp/Selwood decision I'll never know.

Conca seems (and I stress the word seems) to be a different player. He's been compared to Corey Enright or James Kelly, which is at least better than Alan Didak or Adam Goodes. Whether this means anything or not unless Conca becomes a dud like Tambling or has major injury problems he's expected to play 200+ games. I think IF he does this then taking the more sure bet is not necessarily bad. But time will tell and this is what is stopping me from voting.

Ridiculous comment. How are some HBF/part time mids better then dual Brownlow and all round champion Adam Goodes?
