We can never have enough midfielders and esp. one that already has 4 seasons into him. Oh and he's a WA boy. If it's there do it but don't sacrifice any opportunity to get a quality KPF.

I see him more as a potential Crowley successor.
Kind of like scott selwood with good disposal skills, but could hopefully turn into a "shrinkwrap" Crowley type.

I am a huge fan of Conca. There were times in the latter half of the year when watching him and he reminded me a lot of Pendlebury. If the club is able to get him it would be a major coup especially for a player with his best years still ahead of him.

Would take him in an absolute flash, bit of a left field one but he reminds me a bit of Shuey but is possible a little classier by foot and maybe a little slower.
But geez hes a good player, not sure of the $$$ in this potential deal but i'd love to see it happen.

Agree with all the comments above about what a class player Conca is. From his first games at Perth he was just one of those players who has more time and brilliant foot skills. You can never have too many class players in your team.

I am, however, surprised at the possibility as I thought he was very happy to go over East and had settled well. He is an upgrade on Michie, Crozier and several of our other players, but I just don't see how we could get it done without compromising our greater need for Key Position players.

I think its a great idea. you don't turn down class players that are willing to come across, in my opinion you can never have enough midfield talent. Just imagine Gold Coast and GWS midfield in a few years time. They will have about 6-7 potential A-grade midfielders on the field at the same time and we have to be prepared to match that. if it means playing midfielders on the back flanks and forward flanks then so be it, they will provide great run and carry from the backline.
The game is changing you just have to look at both All Australian back flanks this year Mitchell and Mcveigh, both ball magnet midfielders that have been squeezed out of the midfield and blossomed in the backline. I think that would be a perfect position for Conca.

Everyone agrees he is great player, but when you have 4-5 young midfielders playing well and trying to break into the side you do not sign another one. Signing him would be a big kick in the guts to these players.

Lets not forget that we need more key position players, and I can not see us getting Conca with out giving up our 1st round draft pic which we need for a KPP.

agree so much with all your comments 110% we have enough midfielders in the mix to plan for future we need KPP or we will be like Carlton is now with lots of a grade midfielders top draft picks but no back line or forward line.

Absolute clearance machine.
Watch his round 20 game against Brisbane when he kicked three goals and had 12 inside 50s if you needed proof that he can play.
would be absolutely gutted to lose him. More so than Martin.

*Sigh*.. More midfielders.. We have enough depth of midfielders. Where does he fit in? He pushes Sutty/Shero/Michie out/further back in the pecking order?

Not particularly interested.
Right well your comparing Sutcliffe and michie to Conca? He has the potential to be a lot better than those two. On exposed form he is better than a lot of our young midfielders that he would be competing with

Nothing wrong with pushing them back in order if he have a better option.
Don't see Sheridan or Sutcliffe as genuine mids anyway.
Sheridan more your outside runner ala Hill, Pearce and Sutty i see more as a half back then anything else.

Only after aquiring a KPF and a KPD. Would be a very nice get but hardly meets our needs.

I do remember that Freo were very keen on picking up Conca with their first pick and once the Tigers were made aware pulled the trigger early to get him. He was drafted well above where originally placed in the phantom draft. Reckon he is directly tied to the Martin situation. If Martin stays at the tigers then Conca would be given a monster deal from Freo. If Martin goes then they will use the money to secure Conca on a long term deal. It's a concern that its literally that tight on their cap. They must of paid a mozza to Reiwoldt , Deledio and Cotchin.

We aren't near the cap. Have room to sign Martin, Conca, and also target Adams and Longer. Whether we have the currency for the other 2 in terms of trade is another thing. What we are trying to do is sign Martin for less than the other 3 because he hasn't done as much as them yet. Conca will be another pay level down etc. If we have to lose someone to keep to our pay structures so be it.

Freo doesn't seem the best fit for Reece as an in and under type midfielder so seems a strange rumour.

How are Richmond not able to pay their good players when half their list is still pretty ordinary?

If i was to hazard a guess i assume they paid over the odds for guys like Grigg, Houli and Maric to lure them to tigerland..

I would think that IF it's true we have offered Conca 4 years on decent money, then I reckon we must have some tall guy locked away on FA, and there will be an announcement a la Danyle Pearce quite early on in trade week.

I can't see how we would otherwise be chasing a smallish midfielder that we will have to trade for (possibly our first rounder + player), unless we have already addressed our key need for height through other means... ie Free Agency.

Makes things very interesting indeed (if it's true).

Who though?
There are absolutely ZERO decent KPPs in FA now.
We might get a "sign and trade" but theres nothing in FA.

Yeah I dunno - that's why it's interesting and IMO quite weird to suggest we are going that hard for him when we have other such pressing needs. He won't come cheap.y at trade time either.

Although there is that 6'6" Indigenous bloke that runs around in brown and gold...

Theres a little part of me, by little i mean tiny that thinks maybe, just maybe we're still into that.

Its a very Ross Lyon, Steve Rosich, Chris Bond thing to do by nab him while eveyone is distracted by other things.

Can you imagine if we beat them in the GF and then days later he announces hes coming to Freo.
