Morris is quick and puts immense defensive pressure , which Conca doesn't , when he learns to do so he will rightfully deserve his spot .

Agree with this. Conca is a huge worry for mine. He can butcher the ball but really nearly everyone in our side can this year for some reason. What my concern is that he is still a bloody lazy footballer. He has minimal second efforts.

He needs to stay playing reserves footy till he maintains a consistent block of form. Only then should he come in.

Also, Hardwick drop Morris. He is a big part of the reason your coaching career will end sooner rather then later.

Not a dig at you Roar, but laugh when i hear that from the coach.

What defensive pressure does Morris apply ? its not tackling as he does not do that. Its not impacting a contest as Morris this year is late to nearly every one. My issue with Morris is that he is running around like a chicken with his head cut off with zero positive impact. The only impact he is having, and it was for all to see at the G on the weekend is a negative one. He is now so low on confidence, he arrives late to the ball and has this uncany ability due to arriving late to get in his team mates way who is contesting or blocking his own team mates so the opposition can clear.

He needs to be dropped imo

I get I may be in the minority but I think Morris is good at adding defensive pressure in the forward fifty and forces the opposition to rush their disposals.

All good man but i would say, watch any of the games this year and focus on Morris. When you do, play the Benny hill sound track in the back ground. 99% of times he run after the guy with the ball, gets there late, so the opponent gives the ball to another, Morriss then runs after that guy, get there late....rinse repeat.

Also how many goals from a Morris direct turn over in the forward 50 this year ? I will tell you, 0.

Don't doubt that would be the case after all he is a see ball get ball type which would naturally take him to more situations where the ball is which is great when it pays off in congestion . When it doesn't it is his direct opponent who is out in space . When in space and/or one on ones and he looses the contest he has a tendency to throw the towell very quickly .

Isn't it a good thing that he continues with the pressure after the first has disposed of it and gives it off to another ?

That's my worry too. But like Vickery has been on and off, Conca needs to dominate in the 2nds as he has the ability. I think he needs to get his mental right. we need him at his best. So important to our midfield

Said it before, will say it again. We made a massive mistake on taking Conca before Heppell. Wasn't the reason for this was that Conca had 'great' leadership qualities and Heppell was injury prone? Seems to be the other way around so far at AFL level... Still has time, but needs to make up a lot of ground to justify his worthiness of pick 6. Poor work ethic on the training ground from what I've heard. Really needs to start stringing games together at a consistent level as well.
Oh and Corey Ellis is a gem... no way does he deserve to be dropped. You can actually see his brain ticking over to make the best decision when he has the ball in his hands. Composure is so rare in our side these days, he'll stay in.

This will test Hardwick's judgement (sorry match committee) if they are serious about bringing in people who deserve their spot. Then again, from what I have read Menadue wasn't exactly in white hot form before being picked.

Conca was our worst footballer last year. His head has gotten as big as his fat gut. Needs to come back to earth to be better. I thought he was starting to come good in 2013 but its that Richmond curse all over again. Young bloke gets pumped up by success starved supporters, gets a big head then stops working hard and turns into Nick Daffy.

But rough man I think he's lost alot of confidence in his own ability due to the pressure for success at our club. Don't think his pig headed. It's a difficult one though, I think.he needs time in the 2s to build his mental and also needs to be pushed physically.

he actually had 4 tackles on the weekend, played a little better than of late, won't be dropped.

NO FRICKEN WAY.

DEA is a spud...he is never going to become more than a decent VFL player who gets the occasional gig in the 1's. Have to stop giving him games and certainly not at the expense of Corey Ellis.

Conca is a much much better player than Dea and so even if he wasn't as good at VFL he should come in because he has higher upside at AFL level. To be honest the player I see coming out for Conca is Taylor Hunt. Conca is a defensive minded on baller who can go to HBF, which is pretty much Hunt's role.
