Though most Freo supporters are getting ahead of themselves and looking on to the Derby, one thing struck me as quite concerning whilst viewing the Dockerland game review.

RICHMOND ATACK

Matthew Richardson - 196cm
Adam Pattison - 198cm (new player but strewth at 198cm, he's a concern)
Trent Knobel - 202cm interchange with Troy Simmonds - 196cm

FREMANTLE DEFENCE

Scott Thornton - 192cm
Shane Parker - 190cm
Stephen Dodd - 190cm (tagger, won't go 1 on 1 with tall defender)
Mundy - 189cm
Polak - 193cm

Our defence is going to be strecthed for height and their defence is quite tall, could easily match ours. I'm very concerned that we're taking this WAY too lightly because on paper, Richmond could very well beat us. Quite convincingly aswell.

We will more than likely win it out of the midfield but we won't win everything. Will Sandilands and Longmuir (when they're not in the ruck) drop back there to help with the height? Michael Johnson would be VERY stiff not to get selected after seeing the height they have. And with the big ground on subi giving the forwards plenty of room to lead into.

Polak has been very disappointing, Thornton may take a tall but will probably be beaten. Richo tore Parker a new one last time we played them and it wasn't because of the virus that went through Freo, Richo too tall, even decent delivery will carve us up. Mundy, Grover great but never tall enough to take a key position.

Is this something that could cost us the game and our season?

You've absolutely hit the nail on the head. Our defense is pretty ******** poor in the super tall department. There talls will definately score a couple. But i doubt it will be enough to offset our ascendency around the ground.

I think you'll find that we'll often play a spare man in defence and also that Longmuir will play a kick behind play. So don't worry too much, i think we have Richmond covered at the moment. But then again, stranger things have happened.

If we lose with the team thats named we don't deserve to play finals. On paper we should win. But reality can be different.

This game is certainly a danger game.

Richo at his best or near-best even can cause mamoth headaches for teams. We dont match well for height but I think we gain on foot speed down back. That is something not to forget, if we can keep it on the ground we should be able to run it out better than they can hold it in.

We need to make sure we control the clearances and get best use of them, obviously less flying down to their forward line less chance Richo has of scoring a bag.

We need to take pressure off Pav and take advantage of their likely pre-occupation with spoiling Pavs opportunities and the loose men we might have. The Wiz needs to snap back into form quickly and cause some pressure on their defense. Likewise Medders and McPharlin need to be on their toes.

We're pretty predictable now with us shooting at Pav, we need to be adaptable to pickup on their loose contact and score goals through other avenues.

oooo scary.

I tell ya what, every bloody game is a danger game these days.

If we don't beat Richmond we should give it up, they're in poor form and we're in better form. We're at home, they play better on tighter grounds.

Richo will kill us, and we -should- still win.

Pattison is playing his second game and Knobel is an honest toiler who's kicked a handful of goals this year...hardly like matching up Reiwoldt/Koschitske/Gehrig or Brown/Bradshaw. The Tigers defence isn't flash so I'd be backing u guys to kick a big score if u win in the middle.

Do not see the Tigers as a problem. They are top heavy and we will be far too quick, hard and skillful for them. Thier midfield is not much chop. Coughlan and Johnson are not the palyers that they used to be. Tambling and Deledio still raw and learning so CC has it under control and picked the right team to sort this Mob out.

Not a danger game as Pav, Medhurst, Farmer and McPharlin will kick a bag of goals and this will be an easy 4 points and a big percentage builder.

Simmons will get a lesson in the ruck too. Has Sandi really stepped up or what.

Yes they have some talls in their forward area, but what if they try to double up on Pav?. That will leave a man "free" in our forward line, who we must use. Put a tall up forward eg. Sandi, this will draw a tall out of the Tigers forward line to go down back.

The midfield is the key, those rovers need to get the ball out in one or two moves, not twenty. Sandi and JLo must hit the outstretched hands of the running rovers.

Be on the front foot and get Freo to dictate movements, don't be defensive from the start.

It is a danger game, but if we are any good, we will prevail.

If we can get some clearances we'll win easily. If we can't get those clearances and are forced to get our main drive from the backline then its going to be a struggle beacause half the time the Tiger tall forwards will out mark us.

I reckon he has grown. I was watching the replay last night and Mundy and Pav (192cm) walked off together and it appeared to me that Mundy was taller than Pav.

Too much is made of height I think, how tall are Dunstall , Modra & Mal Micheal?
The Scott Brothers usually hold there own.

Have a look on a ruler and see just how little 5cm's is.

I wouldn't knock back an extra 5 cm. ;)

At the other end... how match fit is Gaspar? Can Hall go with Pav all day? Will they try Bowden to run with Pav? Will Krakouer be able to keep up with Schammer? Will Tuck and Coghlan be able to shake Dodd and J Carr? Do we even care about Snake and Knobel... we know that they aren't forwards. If we decide to let 211 rest in the pocket, can Hall, Graham, Moore handle him?

Good post Pope a very positive post.Let us set the pace and let them be the reactive team.Make them worry about our game plan.I think that that is what will happen they the,Tigers will be busy looking for ways to shut down our supply up forward. How to stop Hase,Bell,Cook,Black,Mini and the Cruiser(the Borthers Carr).
Then on top of that there is the worry for them on how to stop Wiz Pav and co from kicking a swag and how do they stop Meddy from handing off or creating four or five. All big pluses for us.The ball may nmot spend much time in the Tiges forward line to worry about who is going to stop their forwards. But the boys down back have done the job so far this season why wouldn't they do it again tomorrow night?

I really dont know what you guys are worried about.

We dont travel to Perth very well and atm our midfield is really struggling at this late stage in the season where your midfield is starting to really fire up.

But I'll be at the game tomorrow cheering on the Yellow & Blacks !!

Go Tiges !!!

Rd 18-22 last year, Rd 4, 8,9,11,13,first half of 14 this year is what we are worried about!

Reputation, past history... even form means nothing. Who gave the Blues a chance last week? Who gave the Pies a chance vs the Wiggles? Who gave the Dogs a chance vs the Lions? Who gave the Hawks a chance vs us?

Living in Perth you probably know of CC's comments regarding the loss to the Tigers early in the season and how he considers it our worst loss of the year.

Not to mention the public scene he had with TW in the lead up to the game

The loss must have really stung him and the team and it is the closest I have heard his reflections get to a grudge scenario.

We all know the importance of this game in the context of the season for both clubs. If it were at the MCG i would be sharing some of my fellow supporter's thoughts on the possibility of a Fremantle loss.

But at Subi with us on a bit of a roll we will win. (famous last words :) )

Good luck to you and your team and cheer loudly because I will be.

If the height does become an issue in our backline don't be suprised to see Gero moved back there for a little bit of sability. Must agree with one poster that mentioned that the tigers backhalf will be under more pressure if we get on top in midfield.

No chaffey and Tivendale(always 50m a head of the play like fletcher of the Slime), Brown exposes their midfield a bit.

Parker on Richo is a mismatch, but hopefully Grover will fill the hole like he did last week and Richo will be contained. Thornton is a good match up for Simmonds because he gets most of his marks on the lead. Pack marking isn't Snakes forte. Polak will get Knobel/Pattison.

Do they have the height to cover us at the other end? If Hall goes to Pav and Gaspar gets McPharlap who plays on Sandilands when he goes forward?

I was thinking the same thing. In recent weeks they've gone tall up forward, and somethings always gotta give. Whether it's JLo, Sandi or Polak floating forward, it really stretches the oppositions defense giving them an absolute nightmare!

To counter that I'd say Wallace will have to flood the midfield, either that or go for a shoot out. A shoot out though seems doubtful with the players at his disposal through form and injury. Should be a good tactical game!

If Richmond put in a contest we could have a very good game on our hands. We are shocking at subiaco and this is the perfect oppurtunity to turn it around for us. Your boys will be tough to beat but in all honestly those of you who write us off completely are mislead. Yes we performed below standard against Carlton but we are still very capable of winning this week and then give us some fire for the Hawks and Bulldogs.

Hopefully it's a good contest and go tiges! :p

If we are a fair dinkum side we have to win by 10 goals or more tonight, Richmond are missing about 6 of their best 22. We are missing about 2.

I would think this will be a very high scoring match.
I am going for 25 goals to us, 15 goals to Richmond.

I think we're underestimating Richmond to be honest. Then again, I always worry. This is a game we should win. If we don't we deserve to be VERY upset, disappointed and angry.
