Wazzas v Sin City Swamprats at Van Cortlandt Park

Yay. We won.


The final round of the home and away season, and we hosted the finals bound Sin City Swamprats, desperately needing a win to stave off our first wooden spoon finish in club history. With little to play for but pride, most would have expected the top four Swampies to roll us on our home patch to end our miserable season.

A poor first quarter had us on the ropes early, but we found something in the second quarter and managed to get back into the contest, however we took a deficit into the main break. A five goal third quarter drew us level with the Rats, and when TubbsFarquhar put through his 5th goal late in the final quarter, we extended our unlikely lead out to 11 points, seeing us hold on for a famous 5 point win to consign the Wonders to last place and the spoon, as we avoided the unwelcomed accolade.

So we grab a consolation win that sees us quite disappointingly avoid the wooden spoon, as we finish 10th, one spot lower than S29 and equalling our S28 record, as we miss finals for the third straight season.
