There wasn't a great deal to write home about from our trip to the hippodrome. Let's see what the deal is after seven rounds:

• Poor old TheInjuryFactory is living up to his username, as his shoulders are about to give way due to carrying a lot of us on the qooty field;
• toxic has taken over the mantle of King Clunker after taking the most marks for the season;
• Dav and zackah are still at 100% of game time, with Dav being the real iron man given he's played every minute of the season so far;
• BeinPurplenGreen & NaturalDisaster both kicked their first goals of the season, so join Raveneyes & Moo with perfect scoring accuracy;
• Even though we didn't salute on the weekend, there were season best games from veteran TubbsFarquhar as well as NaturalDisaster who enjoyed a run in the middle of the ground in the absence of The Half Back

Wazzas v Fighting Furies at rfctigerarmy's hippodrome

Sorry Wazzas, it's been that long since Sunday and it was that uneventful that I really can't remember s**t about this game.

Well we finally packed our bags to hit the road, Destination Punt as we made our way to the hippodrome to tackle the Furies. Now the past few encounters between the clubs has been particularly fiery, however this time around started off fairly sedate. And largely that's the way it stayed, with really only a listless EJW throwing anything resembling barbs, and to be honest, I think most of us batted those away quite harmlessly.

Would have been great to nab a win to give our season a jolt, but unfortunately when the chips are down, so are we. While we managed to claw our way back into the contest to nudge our way in front by the main break, we failed to fire after half time, with the Furies piling on 13 goals to our six, to romp home 42 point winners as our percentage and top eight claims were dealt quite the blow.

The loss puts us at 10th spot on the ladder with a 3-4 record, and while we're realistically only one game out of the top two, our percentage has taken a hiding, seeing us sitting a whopping 32% and a game behind the second placed Roys. Perhaps a more likely target to aim for would be sneaking into the eight, which we can do this Sunday with a comfortable win against the Wonders on our home deck. So mark us down for a tight loss.

Dour in defence - Despite the drubbing, Mofra (18 touches, 9 marks) and TubbsFarquhar (18 touches, 8 marks, 3 tackles) can hold their heads higher than most, both getting plenty of pill as they strived to stem the flow of Furies forward forays.

Midfield maestro - The skipper went alright (27 touches, 7 tackles and a goal), while midfield pinch hitter NaturalDisaster racked up 22 touches and a goal as the two toiled manfully on a dirty day.

Fearsome up front - While his opposing number booted seven to put in a best afield performance for the Furies, BEEG still managed a handy 4 goals and held up his end of the bargain.

No, we said w***ers

With a milestone on our hands, as we celebrated Dav's 100th SFA game, we all knew how this one was going to go.

Anyway, we hosted the West Coast W***ers at Van Corltandt as we looked to stay in touch with the middle pack and secure a place in the eight, while the W***ers were looking to slot into the top four with a win on Sunday.

A mostly rookie driven match thread awaited us, and despite all the tough talk up front, it actually proved to be quite a sedate affair during the week, as most of our clashes have been in recent memory.

Game wise, we hung tough until the last, having allowed a slim lead to the opposition at the final break, the floodgates opened and we surrendered five goals and only managed a brace ourselves, seeing us lose the all important milestone clash, in true Warriors fashion I might add, by 30 points in the end.

The loss makes it two on the trot, and we now find ourselves in the bottom four with some work to do at the half way point of the season. Needing to make the most of the back nine before we hit the clubhouse, we sit in 10th spot with a lowly percentage of 87.09 and adrift of the top eight by at least a game.

Dour in defence - Raveneyes was the pick of the defenders, pushing up onto the wing after quarter time to give us a different mix and he delivered, racking up 18 possies and 7 marks giving us plenty of outside run on the expanses of VCP.

Midfield maestro - Volbeat has turned back the clock since assuming a midfield role this season, and Sunday was arguably his best. 21 touches, 5 marks and two goals from the centre was an impressive outing from the vet.

Fearsome up front - Spearhead and sharpshooter BEEG was particularly accurate on Sunday, making the most of his chances with four majors and just a solitary behind from 5 touches, with his forward pressure a highlight registering 3 tackles, equal parts impressive and disappointing from our hulking full forward.

Wazzas v Las Vegas Bears at The Stadium In The Sky

Bears 'banter' can get in the bin.

Well the week against the Bears started off real awkward as it tends to these days with the current regime over at Vegas, and the fact all their captains seem to seek greener pastures here doesn't seem to have helped relations. New hair, don't care.

Anyway, we ventured over to the stadium in the sky to tackle the top four Bears, as we looked to try and win our way back into the eight before our horror streak of milestones is upon us.

We got off to a quick but inaccurate start, kicking three goals to one in the opening quarter to dampen the home crowd advantage. We ramped up the pressure in the second, as we added another three as we held them goalless, seeing them register a solitary major in the first half as we went into the main break with a 31 point buffer. The Bears jumped out of the blocks in the third quarter, piling on five goals and reducing the margin to just 16 points with a quarter to play, but we would hold on in the end, notching a 17 point win to keep us in touch with the top eight.

So a win sees us rise up the ranks to 9th on the ladder by a skerrick of percentage, but we sit just 5% from 6th spot and a game behind the top four, so all is not lost. Yet.

Wazzas v Gold City Royals at Van Cortlandt Park

Farken.

Round 10 saw us host the Royals, another side there or thereabouts for finals this season, with both sides seeking the win.

It was an arm wrestle all day, with the Royals getting the jump on us initially but wasting their chance to be further in front, only for us to reel them in by half time to take a one point lead into the break. Both sides kicked five goals in the third, but we added an extra behind to double the lead... to two points at the final break. From there we saw more lead changes than Saturday Night Live, with the Royals managing to clinch an agonising one point victory at our expense.

So the slender loss keeps us outside the eight, and while we didn't take a hit to our percentage, we didn't manage to improve it either. So we sit on the outside looking in from ninth spot, with some work to do from here to play finals in S32.

Dour in defence - Veteran defender TubbsFarquhar found a new role on Sunday as a makeshift ruckman who tackled Royals vet GreyCrow in a battle for the ages. His 26 touches, 10 hitouts and a goal hard to look past.

Midfield maestro - Yours truly went pretty decent with 23 touches and 12 tackles to lead the engine room, supported around the stoppages by Volbeat with 27 touches, 5 marks and 2.2 from four pings at the sticks. DockerDen5215 continues to impress in his second season, his 27 touches 9 marks and a goal sparking others into gear at key points throughout the match.

Fearsome up front - At both ends of the spectrum, rookie Snuffaluphagus and all time games record holder zackah both produced lively efforts up forward, the pair both managing 3 goals apiece.
