Disclaimer

I've been working on this set for, honestly, three to four months. In that time some amazing stuff has been created re imagining the AFL in various machinations and forms. If any of this resembles another Portfolio, even superficially, I apologise sincerely.

Not a bad concept. I am curious as how the second division works in each state. Obviously sanfl, vfl and wafl would be similar, but what about the other states that are currently within the neafl.

The Swans, sensing a shift in football in Melbourne, and indeed Sydney following the relocations and mergers, began re branding themselves as a national brand. Dropping 'Sydney' from their branding was a start, and establishing a permanent training base at South Melbourne District Sports Club was a big step towards re establishing themselves in the Melbourne market.

Moving the Giants to Canberra wasn't a massive transition, and in fact moving them so early into their history didn't quite burn the AFL's bridge into Western Sydney. What it did do was improve their home game immensely, with the expat population of the capitol turning up each week to see their home teams play. The addition of Pura Milk as a sponsor helped appeal the team to Canberran locals, and the Giants quickly became a cult team.

The Dingoes were immediately embraced by their community upon inception, doing something their predecessors, the Suns, never could. Their list was mostly stocked by former GC players, the rest were made up of locals and Tiwi islanders, which didn't immediately help their on field performances, but cement their place in the league. The Dingoes would split their games where possible, playing the further flung teams like the Dockers, Eagles and Kangaroos in Alice Springs, and those teams with access to a direct flight to Darwin at TIO Stadium.

The Bulldogs moved to Ballarat in order to fully exploit two unique niche's in the Victorian market, the ever growing western corridor, and the country football market. Games in Arrarat, Albury and pre seasons in Mildura helped spread the Bulldog Bread far affield, and maintaining the Whitten Oval gave the club a permanent home to train it when in Melbourne.
