My confessions

  1. In a thread towards the middle of the season i said Spud should retire come seasons end, not becuase he wasn't playing good footy but becuase we couldn't make finals and needed to blood the youngsters. Spud is basically playing career best footy, is his most disciplened, and remarkably hasn't made the usual Spudly mistake each game that he used to.
Spud i was wrong and I'm sorry.

2. Tarrant - I was frustrated that Tarrant was getting a game but was unable to take a mark or kick a goal. He has since turned this around and regualry hits the score board. That said i am still not sold on him yet but i can't argue that, on exposed form i am being proven wrong.

3. Whilst i can't recall if i expressed it or not, i was losing faith with Brad Scott. Brad i was wrong.

I didn't tee off on Spud however was certainly not going to be upset to see him out of the team. The run and spread from the midfield has had a massive effect on his game. It’s blindingly obvious now that he was getting caught because he was needing to be more creative than he was capable of. A bit like the forwards need good supply to deliver, it truly is a team game.

Tarrant I was well behaved on, not necessarily because I saw him as the solution to all our ills, just felt that it was so obvious that we needed a couple of our slightly mature KPF's to kick on or move on. We were never going to start to answer that question without some games and some pain.

Oh yes. And at half time in the Essendon game I found my friends and said "oh well, there's always next year". (They set me right, though - they had Essendon fans with them who said North didn't have to worry, that was as good as it was going to get for their team.)

I'd also just like to throw in that people who chose not to call for sackings of players or coaches did and do not care less or love less than those who did. It's not a backdoor brag to confess that you made a dick of yourself because (stated or unstated) you are sooooo much more passionate than those who maintained faith.

I wanted Scott's head after the Port game. I was in meltdown mode and actually went out with a friend that night to get blind drunk and forget my problems. >_> That been said, I never once doubted any of our players and always stick up for Taz/Hansen/Cunners/Anthony and co.

And, while I'm at it, I am proud to have maintained faith all along in Brad and the entire playing list.

I confess I also never lost faith in Laidley, either of the Ayletts, Duffman, Jonathon Hay, Cameron Thurley, Carey or Stevo, or Leigh Brown as a fullback. Back without question and you often look like an idiot too - or would if people bumped you with the same energy.

I believed in the talents of this team. After the Hawthorn game I was just disgusted with our lack of effort, but the Gold Coast game really tested my belief in the side. Going into the Adelaide game I expected us to be competitive and felt our best would be good enough to account for them.

This board was toxic during that period, a real cesspool of shizen.

My worst call was probably when I said Sammy Wright was well behind Speight in the preseason.

It was not the Hawks game that did it it was our pitiful showing against Port - I screamed to God for deliverance

Some of the worst posters have never had anything negative to say. :p That doesn't mean your cup has to be half-empty but you should call a spade a spade. Support the club but if you see issues then feel free to raise them. I think overly optimistic is as bad as overly pessimistic. There is good and bad in everything, even when we win.

It is hard to believe some people survived the culling of players like Trotter, Urqs and even chronic BF favourites like Ross and Urch. All of the kids show signs of quality, would never have made it to our list if they lacked any qualities, but a lot has to go right to make it at AFL level and not a lot has to go wrong to fail.

I'm one of the optimisticest people I know, but this year my patience got tested. I haven't got time to search for the posts, but I made some doozies

- Questioned whether Cunnington had much more to offer than what we'd already seen
- Wrote off Taz
- Most embarrassingly, posed the theory that we were so crap because our medicos were too conservative to let us get fit or strong enough to be competitive.

I am a clueless ****stick and I was wrong. Again.

Thank god I haven't ever been negative.

OK - fess up indeed. I started the get Malthouse NOW thread. I was wrong - wait until the end of the season. Scott has recovered better than I thought he could within the season and the team is playing well - no question. Scott even doubted himself according to his media of recent days. Lets enjoy the good times.

I doubted Scott and by his own admission so did he. He turned it around and I look like a goose.

Win/win.

I would also like to apologise to Michael Firrito. Had him gone at pre season but is playing his best football this year.

I would also like to add that I've never questioned our talent just the coaching.

Over to you OS. -:)

not on here but i said straight after the port game, "sack brad scott, sack brent harvey (WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING) and move to tasmania i couldnt give two f***s", i also never had faith in tarrant or anthony. On the other hand i always had faith in Hansen even though i thought he would come back as a CHB. Any we can only judge a team one week at a time and that one week was the lowest point for us in a long time,
