Confidence Poll - Grand Final 2

There's no doubt, St Kilda broke through us last Saturday. But who here can honestly say that's the best Pies performance we've had in 2010?? We reverted to our old tricks - bombing the ball long, inaccurate kicking. MUCH different to the week prior when we demolished the Cats - the team St Kilda beat by a mere 3 points.

So yes, provided the boys a fit and firing I think we have it in us to put in a better performance than last week and consequently win the game.

GO PIES!!

No doubt we can win this week and we will. Saints wont be able to produce the same intensity and pressure as last week. Hence they will struggle to shut us down with Fisher being third man up.

Our forward entries will be far less erratic and predictable this week and our top 5 players will perform at a much higher level.

I am going on the record of being full of confidence and I believe that Maxy will be holding the cup aloft at 5:30pm on Saturday.

Go Pies :thumbsu:

If the pies play our gameplan, we can certainly win. We played pretty crap last week and still did not lose. We have a massive spread of goalkickers, we just need to be effective and useful with every possession, while shutting down their main players in defense

I think we can, of course.

But I don't think we will. St.Kilda seem to have a better spread of class in every sector of the ground.

Is Ed a troll? Seriously I know he posts on here a fair bit but ever since the finals began he seems to be against us? St kilda having a better spread right across the ground? WTF? They rely on about 5 blokes and the rest are duds. Pies will win this week and it will be a full team effort because we have a much better team as a whole. Go Pies!

Although we were far from great and some of our better players were down, we should have won by at least a few goals. To have a discrepancy of forward 50 entries of nearly 30 and draw the match is a worry. On the other hand saints would gain more confidence from the draw gaining all their momentum in the second half. I am a bit of a pesimist I think this match won't be so close. Pies might still win but at this stage I think they may beat us.

I disagree with you mate, Stkilda have more duds then us and they relay on 3 or 4 players. We need to put more time in stopping Fisher,Goddard and Hayes and I think we will win becuase the rest apart from Reiwoldt will not win them a GF. The disapointing thing is the Mick never tags Fisher and if you look at his stats against us they show he has dominated.

Forwards: Roo, Milne, Schneider, and Kosi can at least kick straight

Mids: Hayes, Goddard, Montagna, Dall Santo (playing injured though)

Backs: Fisher, Gilbert, Gwilt, Dawson (seemed to play well)

Now the argument could be made that their Collingwood counterparts are better players (except for Reiwoldt and Goddard) but the St.Kilda players have now twice shown they will perform when required on the big stage.

Ours haven't yet, and they get ANOTHER chance to this weekend. Let's hope they do.

Really hate your negativity Ed. :thumbsd:

Yes we can and we will win the replay Grand Final.

We have shown we can draw with St Kilda with most of our key players like Dids, Cloke, Pendles, Ball and Swan not being in our best 5 on the ground. If we can lift we are definitely a chance and I am confident we will win this week. :D

The spread of talent isn't the issue ours is better the last line was an issue on Saturday their key play makers worked harder, hopefully that isn't the case this week. Either way has nothing to do with the spread of talent.

I'm going to tip us to win by 22 points, not that a margin means anything. The experience of playing in a Grand Final will give us an edge. Surely Dane Swan couldn't play any worse than what he did in Grand Final I. In fact most of our better players were down on the day (Pendlebury, Didak, Harry O, Jolly, Wellingham, etc..) which gives me some confidence.

There is quite a lot of panicked negativity going on. We are all gutted and depressed but guess what ....so are St Shit...they could of had us at the end but they couldn't do it....we fought back...we did not play anywhere near our best and they know it....so i say let St Shit do the panicking and until proven otherwise enjoy the continued success of the Mighty Magpies....we are in the Granny with an experienced and super talented team....Go Pies

Pies will bounce back like they did after the Melbourne Draw (similar game) and beat the Saints by 27 points.

Collingwood: 15.11.101
St. Kilda: 11.8.74

Not as confident as i was this time last week but, if we can and its a big IF, kick straight and a few boys play better, Swan, Pendlebury etc i think we will be the better side and win our 15th Premiership.

Yep, I'm confident we'll win this week. As long as we don't panic and bomb long into Fisher and actually hit up forward targets I think we can put a score on the board.

Forwards: Roo, Milne, Schneider, and Kosi can at least kick straight

What the hell? Rooey is a better player then Cloke but god he's kicking isn't much better. Can get the yips in front of goal just as much as Trav!

My post may not have been clear, but I was saying KOSI can kick straight, not the others.

Just because a poster has a different or negative opinion doesn't make them a troll. Some people are just more pessimistic than others. To say Ed is against us is drawing the wrong conclusion. I think it would hurt him as much as anyone else in here if we were to lose. Some people are just more confident in the team than others.

Supremely confident. We are a superior team with a more even spread of talent and superior game plan when we execute well.

We don't have the distraction of a normal grand final week (Brownlows / Parade) which no doubt drained our players, moreso than St Kilda.

Our A graders didn't fire but have the tumost confidence that they have recognised they were well below their best (Ball, Pendles, Didak to mentin a few), and it's unlikely that Harry O, and the Anvil will have as bad a game again.

With a few minor tweaks to selection this week (Goldsack in for Davis) and push Heater furhter up the ground to run amok, I think we can win, and win well.

It doesnt really matter a rat's arse whether the people in this forum are confident.....and it means nothing to say that Collingwood WILL win. I'm hoping that last saturday's experience will be a positive thing for the younger players...that they got a little taste of winning and defeat and they will be more desperate when the crap hits the fan next saturday. They may react well but it might be too much for a lot of them.

The fact is that 6 or 7 of our guys are just as young as those baby demons or baby whatevers that media goes on about. They havent had the preseasons to build up their strength and all the other things that a footballer needs in a slog like last saturdays. Hopefully guys like Blair and Beams will learn something. They are good kids but they're in it up to their ears at the moment and it might go either way. St. Kilda is on average something like 3 years older than our guys.

Even the cool heads like Pendles and Thomas are kids when you compare them to Hayes and Goddard. I'm proud of what they've done but I think that they'll go the full journey if they have confidence in themselves and each other.....that's THE important confidence poll..
