Could just imagine Hammo with puffs of smoke coming out of the top of his bonce. ;)

Just a thought but it might be worthwhile locking this thread and just keeping it as a one-stop shop for information updates to do with our list? Plenty of other threads for discussions.

Great idea, by the way!

Won't lock it so that everyone can contribute, but otherwise a good idea. :thumbsu:

Yeah, better if it's kept open so it isn't up to the mods to update it and we can all contribute. I can sense they may have their hands full in the next month!

I do need some help with the uncontracted players though, I'm sure we have more than that.

Interesting, wonder how the dates work around the matching of RFA offers. You'd assume the three day period would have to finish before the end of the trade period to let the team's trade the RFA's if they refuse. Also, teams don't have much time to deal their FA compensation picks too since that's usually after the FA period is over.

Also the article I linked to for key off-season dates (the brown title is a link) is published on 16/9 whereas the article you linked to is from the 21/8. I wonder if those are the correct dates.

EDIT: Here's one posted on the AFL website today: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-09-29/key-draft-and-free-agency-dates

I was wondering that myself. Looks like they've fixed that up a bit and changed the dates around (again) in the time since.

Almost a Lock I would think, he played more games this year than most Rookies do in their 2-3 years at a club.
I would be locking him into a three year deal given what is happening with our other youngsters.

Given the academy nomination/bidding process happens early, hopefully it won't be long before we know which of Tickner, Conway, Smith etc we will be going for and what they will cost in terms of picks.

All done by next Monday by the looks of things.

Clark was invited to train at Brisbane in the leadup to the Rookie Draft in 2011, and one day before he was scheduled to fly up, the Crows called him and invited him to train with them. Despite being the club closest to home, not to mention the club he had grown up as a fanatical supporter of, Clark told the Crows thanks but no thanks because he had already made the commitment to Brisbane, and he was incredibly grateful for the opportunity Brisbane had offered him when no-one else would.

If you ask me, he's got a bit of the "Tom Rockliffs" about him - country kid with good country values. Had a bit of homesickness when he first arrived which is only natural for an 18-year-old, but I think he is very much old-school when it comes to 'homesickness' - real men get over it. I don't think he'd be going anywhere.

Not that I don't support giving him a three-year deal with his progress and height. Lock him down Lions!

The academy bidding was the first thing i looked for, can't wait for next Monday when we will know what picks we are forced to use for our academy kids. I read it as Friday being that we nominate players that we wish to draft from the academy, so that will also be interesting to see who/how many we actual name. Not sure if we name them on Friday if that means we then have to draft them, or if that is still determined on Monday though.

I spoke to Justin one night about homesickness, and if he had any desire to return to South Australia, he just laughed.... "WHy would I want ot be in SA now when I would have 3 jumpers on and still cold?? I love Queensland"

When he said this, I was in very little doubt that he was as genuine as you would get.

On our trip to Arizona.

I am really disappointed that only the 5+ years players are going. Doesn't send a great message IMO. Rumours of player rifts between the older and younger players are around, and it seems like they are treated differently.

25 players going, surely a sponsor could have been found for the remaining players.... although by reading the exodus thread, we may have less than 25 payers left on our list:p

They're actually all going now.

Leppitsch had his first win as head coach yesterday when he convinced the club to take a full touring party to Arizona for their preseason training camp.

“We're all on board with the fact that we want to bring our club closer together and to bring everyone to Arizona was one step to doing that,” he said.

Good to see you back Fenway.

Justin Clark is the real deal.

Loved his MRP incident - absolute commitment and just went after the ball to play on immediately as if nothing happened.
