After watching the interview with Fyfe, he talked about his website. For the life of me, I CAN'T FIND ONE.

Still can't find his website

So weird and unneccersary. Brand Fyfe huzzah!

Looks like a site set up to get more partners and make a killing by selling his own merchandise.

I wonder how AFL players set up their tax, I imagine it would be a bitch because tax 'minimastion' as a individual is hard compared to a company.

In some ways a personal brand can be seen as a company. The tax laws for things like this are weird, but definitely lean towards company style tax than individuals.

I'm glad Fyfe's doing this. You never know when your last game's going to be, so why not capitalise and build on the brand that the media has already made for Fyfe. And if it can mean he makes more $ through sponsorships & is happy to fit into our salary cap when his contract expires, then even better!

Was mainly referring to his AFL salary, which is taxed as an individual. Once you start earning over 150k the tax system is pretty much robbery.

Not sure why people are criticising?

Shows he can probably make more $$ off the field so may not chase every last cent when his contract is up.

I only seen 1 post criticising...

The thing about money is doesn't automatically mean you will give up some just because your other investments are doing well. End of his contract if he feels the club are not offering fair market value, he will consider his options. I know a person worth $700m who didn't want to close a deal because he felt it was $10,000 less than fair value. The fact is AFL players salaries are really pittances compared to other sports and with our shit tax rates it nots in your best interest to take anything less than you can get.

Possibly, but changing clubs does affect your brand. If your brand is worth millions a year, then it's a lot more of a risk accepting an extra couple of hundred grand to change clubs, especially if it's not one of the select few high profile clubs.
