Couldn't find a match thread, mods feel free to move/merge.

Well played, comprehensively outplayed us virtually all night. You can say (and the commentators did, a nice change for us) that we had so many young players, so many players out, etc, etc - and listing the names Burgoyne, Bateman, Young, Osborne, Rioli, Bailey, Renouf, Gilham, Murphy, Guerra sounds impressive, but it wasn't why we lost.

Your onballers, and special mention to Hudson were immense. We like to think the Mitchell - Sewell - Lewis/Hodge/Ellis/Shiels/etc trio is amongst the best in the league....well tonight they were (IMO) smashed.

From there, it was a case of men against boys, and the system, skills and speed you showed right over the ground was in direct contrast to the short, momentum-stifling chipping game we played....testament to the pressure you put on not only our ball-carrier, but also those around.

A thoroughly well coached, well-played game - and augers very well for the Doggies in 2010. Hopefully next time we fare a little better.

what he said

The Doggies pressure was great, which made Hawthorn do a few forced-errors.

Congrats to the Western Bulldogs, you are mine and the wife's 2nd team and 2010 looks to be a even more exciting year.

Thanks. We were closer to full strength so it was going to be tough for you guys. Gilham was the obvious matchup for Hall and missing a few quality midfielders really hurts. Like you said our pressure was good but I also think both sides skills were rusty. BTW I thought Gary Moss had a pretty good game, I might put him in my supercoach team.

Pfft. Skipper. He was great in the VFL but, when he was given the opportunity to play in the AFL, he never produced.

Getting back to the topic though, it was a great game. Great passages of play from both sides. But yes, us doggies outclassed u's tonight. I felt sorry for hawks in patches. Some poor umpiring decisions. And yeah, u's did have alot of big outs and it does make a big difference.

Cant wait for round 3. Shall be a beauty.

GO DOGS! 2010 is ours!

Anyone know where I can D/L a torrent of this game?
I had it setup to record and somehow did the wrong channel. Doh!
aus.sierules.com

thought i would be relying on it for my footy fix but have been pleasantly surprised to be able to get the nab cup games live here and have been told that should get 4 or 5 games live a week and replays of the other games which makes things a bit easier

Not to put a dampner on things doggies fans, but we have to be a bit realistic when it comes to matters involving Barry Hall.

Before I say anything else, let me start by saying I want Barry Hall to succeed at the Bulldogs and for the bulldogs to have a good year...just not against us.:D

I watched the game on Friday night and BBB Barry looked very impresive, but let me point out a few things:

1-Josh Gibson is not going to play on him every week....Firrito always did a better job on Hall.

2-Hawks did not appear to double/triple team him at any stage during that game. Wait until this starts happening on a regular basis

3- He didnt hit anyone.

...and finally, he looks like he has become a little umpire friendly from some of the footage I saw, this never happened at the swans. I will be very annoyed if/when the umps start giving him free kick for the same things he got nada, zero, zip when he wore the red and white.

That's actually something that I hope for. If the opponent has to play multiple defenders on him then that means that there are Doggies out in the open.
