Well done to the Catters, the better team won on the night. :thumbsu:

If I could be so bold as to ask for an opinion on some Hawthorn players whilst on your forum, what did you think of the 3 debutants for the Hawks? I know they had little impact, but did they offer any signs of future promise to the neutral observers out there?

Forgive the audacity, It's just hard to get a balanced view of my own players, I'm sure you understand where I'm coming from.

See you in round 17, I'll catch you at the pub beforehand Diablo14, all going well. :thumbsu:

Cheeseman,

To be honest, I didn't notice any of the debutants enough to really say much about them, though I guess might be an indication that none of them had significant impact.

Whitecross certainly seemed to do more good stuff in the second half than the first, but Schoenmakers and Suckling I just didn't really notice at all.

I don't think too many hawk supporters think much of Taylor to be honest.

Unfortunately campbell didn't play. The sooner he is back and Taylor is gone the better.

Why wasn't Campbell playing?

Just came to say the same as the other Hawks posters in the thread, great game last night Cats.

I doubt we could have a rivalry to the extent of collingwood/carlton
It's not a dick measuring contest. What matters is the quality and there was certainly some quality showing last night.

Why wasn't Campbell playing?
Thumb injury, not sure how long he'll be out for though.

its refreshing to see threads like this on the board. :thumbsu:
Fantastic to see Hawks fans on here speaking graciously and accepting the defeat like real supporters. Sometimes you need reminding the good supporters are still out there. Not just Hawthorn but everyone, including Geelong (sat next to a feral Geelong supporter last night, even i wanted to deck him by the end of the night!!)
I do agree with most who say Hawks will be hard to stop when Buddy and Roughy get as much supply as they did in that last 15 minutes. The way they always managed to have them icolated inside the forward 50 (even when we were dominating) is something the Cats will have to address next time i think.

Good game to start the year out

Judging by their run in the last quarter it looked like Hawthorn really set themselves for this game, keeping several players in cotton wool pre-season. They looked fitter and faster as the game wore on and the 2 big forwards were unstoppable. Given all that it actually a massive win for the Cats, a real gutsy effort so the Congrats are appreciated. Geelong's fitness will improve (e.g. Wojo) and will get Harley and Hawkins down the spine to provide more options. Can't wait for round 17!

Again, congrats guys on the win. It was always going to be a tough one for us with so many defenders out & newbies in. I was lucky enough to have a really good view down the wing & watch how you got around our zone... very impressive skills, pace and accuracy.

cheers!

anyone get those tarzo things with the record , kid gave me heaps i only want the hawk ones , i have 6 paul chapman 3 tom hawkins 1 scarlett 1 enright 1 selwood 1 m stokes 1 bartel i will give some to a friend or 2 that are cat supporters and what is left i pack away till next we meet and take them to the game to give to you guys

Congrats to the cats. Your guys are all up and about again this year and looking good. Selwood is an out and out superstar and appears now to be coming into back up his 1st and 2nd year performances with another outstanding season ahead.

I was impressed with all our newbies last night, they played a quality opposition and I thought they held their own. Looking forward to rd17, good luck for the rest of the season and may you remain relatively injury free. :thumbsu:

OK....enough of the blow,n wind up...?well you know where...WELL DONE...but i need to know,is it us only that the catters stuggle to kick straight against or what...?:eek:If so ,can you tell me why ?...cos i dont get it...:confused:

I hate Hawthorn with a passion yet can not but admire them.

They scrap and tussle, they push the rules to the limit and cross when the umpire allows, they never give in and make the most of their chances( something we do not)They seem to be fantastically drilled. After every Geelong mark , they creep a stride or two and make themselves as wide and as high as possible. They clog and push until a turnover situation occurs and when it does they look for their key forwards , who are probably the most lethal duo in the AFL. For mine we won the game but we didn't beat them. We had the chance to , but we blew it with poor kicking. No doubt Hawthorn will be around the mark again and we better smarten or kicking up to ensure a happier Sept.

That game felt like a loss in many ways. Quicker we get blokes like Harley back to strengthen our defense the better.

I honestly think we need to include David Johnson in there, as much as I hate to say it.

check the nab cup grand final scoreline...its not just against the hawks, there is an endemic at geelong with regards to conversion (except maybe chappy and lingy).
