OMG.....when has a coach (any coach) EVER honestly answered a direct question.

The whole MO of any coach is not not answer any question honestly.

Stop pretending that NB is blameless in all of this. He stuffed up, which is a surprise given he is typically a very media savvy coach.

This whole thing has been completely blown out of proportion by the media who have achieved exactly what they set out to do.

Disagree with this part, Buckley has kept quiet and absorbed all of the negativity, criticism and blame for what went down in 2011 and beyond. For nine bloody years he’s taken the high road and largely held his tongue, and when that narcissistic, self-absorbed prick in Malthouse comes out and lays the blame squarely at Buckley as the reason why he didn’t take the coaching/football director position, then good on Buckley for saying enough is enough and responding. Reading the interview with Malthouse on the AFL’s website made me think I’d slipped into an alternate reality, it was farcical that it was even published. The question I would ask is this, why even bring up the coaching handover? This is supposed to be about recognition of the achievements over the course of his career but good, old salty Malty just can’t let it go and move on. Speaks volumes about him and not Buckley.


At some point in time it would be great if there was some actual rigour in sports journalism and Malthouse was held accountable for his behaviour, the relationships he’s burned and the constantly shifting narrative that ensures he’s always portraying himself in a positive light. Not to mention the impact it had on the club’s culture and on-field results. More power to Buckley, I say and it’s about time the bullshit gets called out and challenged.

Bucks stuffed up, but even though I'm a MM fan, the shit-stirrer in me thinks he should have a come back to Malthouse's sympathy request. Something along the lines of "I'd like to apologise for any upset that I've caused Mick and his family, I believe he is a worthy inductee who deserves to sit alongside Brad Hardie in terms of his contribution to the game."

I was bored so I listened to the first 3 minutes. Seriously, is that it? Is that all that Bucks said?
I listened to Robbo go on about this on 360 and assumed that Bucks had performed a genuine character assassination of MM. This is all just stupid and dishonest reporting by the media.

Mick has played the Nanette card many times over his career to get what he wants or to exaggerate his message. Poor woman being not only married to him but a pawn in his petty games.
