Gilly just announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.

Will be bloody sad not to get to watch him again, but what a great time to go out. He could have gone on another year and had more whispers about his keeping and batting.

Will definitely be a batsman I will tell my kids about watching. That world record fastest double hundred in SA in 2002, the hundred in 50-something balls in The Ashes last year, that run chase in Hobart in his second test, the hundred in the World Cup final... and heaps more I could mention.

What a champion he is!! Gunna miss him!!:(
He will play out the upcoming triangular series against India and Sri Lanka and then that will be it. Although he would have to be odds-on to head off to the IPL soon, so it's not the end just yet.

Congratulations to Gilly on his magnificent career playing for Australia:thumbsu: (Don't much care for his WA/NSW career but also very good) & hope we see him around maybe in the media:thumbsu:

I will never forget the one-dayer in Hobart v Zimbabwe when he smacked 130+ and was fair dinkum taking requests from the hill as to where he shoud hit the next 6. Just extraordinary.

It's great how once Gilly leaves, Haddin will slot in, and become one of the best keeper/batters in the world (behind Sangakara who admittedly is one of the best already)
Nah Haddin will be the next Steve Nixon.
